One-dimensional fluid diffusion induced by constant-rate flow injection: Theoretical analysis and application to the determination of fluid permeability and specific storage of a cored rock sample [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We describe the conceptual design and first application of a new method for simultaneously measuring the fluid permeability and specific storage of a rock sample.

The Equilibrium Time and Salt Expansion Characteristic of Sulfate Saline Soil upon Cooling

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2021
The salt expansion disease is severe for the soil containing sodium sulfate in cold regions. This paper carried out one-dimensional salt expansion tests of saline soil, the crystallization test of saturated sodium sulfate solution, and the numerical ...

Effect of Loading Duration on Results of One-Dimensional Consolidation Tests

open access: yesSoils and Foundations, 1977
ABSTRACT The Paper gives an interpretation in terms of the influence of a loading duration on the results of such one-dimensional consolidation tests as conducted under the condition of a larger increment ratio, say 1.0. Based on the records of consolidation tests including measurements of both pore-water and total pressures, the role of the adsorbed

Microstructural analysis of Shanghai remolded clay during one-dimensional consolidation test [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The microstructure of soil has a significant influence on the mechanical behavior. In this paper, photos of Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) are taken on Shanghai remolded clay samples under different consolidated pressures during one-dimensional consolidation test.

One-dimensional consolidation of overconsolidated clay using Constant Rate of Strain testing [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
The main method for the determination of consolidation parameters in Flanders (Belgium) is still the incremental loading test (IL test). This method can take up to several weeks for some typical Flemish overconsolidated (OC) clays. In theory, the same relationship between settlement and vertical stress can be obtained by performing a constant rate of ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Experimental study on consolidation characteristics of polyacrylamide-modified lime-stabilized dredger fill

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2017
The technology of dredger fill treatment becomes one of the technical difficulties in soft soil foundation treatment. The compressive strength and shear strength of dredger fill can be improved by adding lime and other solidified materials, but the ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.
