One-way shear strength of circular voided reinforced concrete floor slabs

Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Structures and Buildings, 2015
Generally, voided reinforced concrete floor slabs in building structures have a lower shear strength compared with solid slabs owing to the reduction in their cross-sectional area. This study shows that the void shape and material of the void-shaper also influence the shear strength of voided slabs.

Shear in One-Way Slabs under Concentrated Load Close to Support

ACI Structural Journal, 2013
One-way slabs under concentrated loads are generally designed for shear by checking the beam shear resistance and the punching shear resistance over an effective width. Only a small number of test data regarding the shear resistance of one-way slabs subjected to concentrated loads is currently available.

One-Way Shear Behavior of Lightweight Concrete Panels Reinforced with GFRP Bars

Journal of Composites for Construction, 2012
Corrosion of steel bars used in reinforced concrete bridge decks exposed to moisture and deicing salts is of concern. The chloride-induced corrosion of steel reinforcement increases the maintenance cost of the structure. The resistance of glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) reinforcing bars to corrosion provides a viable alternative to steel ...

Shear Strength of FRP RC Beams and One-Way Slabs without Stirrups

Journal of Composites for Construction, 2014
AbstractDue to the complex mechanism of shear behavior, most current empirical methods do not physically simulate the shear behavior as seen in practice. These approaches, therefore, cannot be directly applied to accommodate advanced technologies such as in the use of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) or fiber-reinforced concrete.

SHEAR STRENGTH OF ONE-WAY RIBBED SLABS WITH STEEL FIBER CONCRETE

The ribbed slabs are used both in small and large constructions, and its use is growing due to the advantages that this constructive system provides. However, considering the demeanor of these slabs without transverse reinforcements (stirrups), few studies were made in Brazil.

Numerical investigation of thermal mixing of shear thinning fluids in one-way opposing jets

2014
In recent years, impinging streams have received increasing interest for their high efficiency in heat and mass transfer. This numerical study was conducted to investigate flow and heat transfer characteristics of one-way opposing jets of non-Newtonian fluids.
