IN VITRO EVALUATION OF MICROLEAKAGE AND SHEAR BOND STRENGTH OF SELF-ADHESIVE HYBRID COMPOSITES IN PRIMARY MOLARS [PDF]

open access: yesAlexandria Dental Journal
Introduction: Recently the self-adhesive hybrid composite, Surefil One™ was introduced as a “bioactive material”.Objectives: To assess microleakage and shear bond strength of Surefil One™ in comparison to Cention forte and resin-based composite used as ...

Powder Optimization Strategies for Binder Jetting Printing of BaTiO3 and Ba0,6Sr0,4TiO3 Ceramics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Powder optimization is investigated to enable binder jetting of BaTiO3 and Ba0.6Sr0.4TiO3 ferroelectric ceramics. The antagonistic relationship between flowability and binder compatibility is addressed through binder impregnation of granulated powders and fumed silica addition to fine powders.

Shear resistance of reinforced concrete beams with and without steel fibres. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
The fabrication and placement of conventional shear rein- forcement are time consuming and costly and its use in thin structural concrete members is often impractical.

A Simplified Laminar Flow Model for the Pultrusion of Glass Fiber/Polyethylene Terephthalate Commingled Yarns

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A simplified thermoplastic pultrusion model is developed to predict thermal fields in glass fiber/polyethylene terephthalate (GF/PET) composites with reduced computational cost. By combining effective material homogenization, validation against literature data, and Gaussian‐process‐based optimization, the study reveals how heating limits, pulling speed,

Experimental studies of scale effects on shear strength, and deformation of rock joints [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
The effect of scale on shear strength is studied by performing direct shear tests on different sized samples of large joints. A rubber moulding system is used to obtain impressions of the roughness from a variety of natural joint surfaces.

The effect of compressibility on turbulent shear flow: a rapid-distortion-theory and direct-numerical-simulation study [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
The influence of compressibility upon the structure of homogeneous sheared turbulence is investigated. For the case in which the rate of shear is much larger than the rate of nonlinear interactions of the turbulence, the modification caused by ...

Evaluation of the KDS 14 Draft Design Method for Predicting the Shear Strength of Prestressed Concrete Beams

open access: yesInternational Journal of Concrete Structures and Materials
One-way shear strength evaluation is one of the essential and complex aspects in the design of prestressed concrete (PSC) members. Current design standards adopt different empirical or semi-empirical approaches to predict the one-way shear strength of ...

Rafting of Ni‐Based Superalloys Under Multiaxial Load as Understood by Phase‐Field Simulations and Critical Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

Additive Manufacturing of Continuous Fibre Reinforced Composites: Process, Characterisation, Modelling, and Sustainability

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing provides precise control over the placement of continuous fibres within polymer matrices, enabling customised mechanical performance in composite components. This article explores processing strategies, mechanical testing, and modelling approaches for additive manufactured continuous fibre‐reinforced composites.

THE SHEAR BEHAVIOUR OF THE REINFORCED CONCRETE FOUR-PILE CAPS

open access: yes, 2009
There has been a consistent discrepancy between UK design standards BS5400 and BS8110 in the prediction of the shear capacity of 2-way spanning reinforced concrete pile caps from bending theory-based empirical design formulae.
