Influence of longitudinal reinforcement strength on one-way slab deflection

Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering, 2008
The CSA A23.3 standard for reinforced concrete design provides both an implicit check of deflection control based on minimum member thickness requirements and a direct computation method for deflection. This paper reports on an analytical study that compared maximum span-to-depth ratios from the implicit deflection provisions against ratios determined

Crack Control in Post-Tensioned One-Way Slab Systems

SP-225: Serviceability of Concrete: A Symposium Honoring Dr. Edward G. Nawy, 2005
This paper presents an alternative procedure for computing restrained stresses induced by shrinkage and temperature effects. A method is proposed by which an equivalent shrinkage stress is calculated. The stress obtained is then used to design the shrinkage and temperature tendons.

One-Way Slabs Subjected to Combination of Loads Failing in Shear

ACI Structural Journal, 2015
SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS For the assessment of existing solid slab bridges subjected to dead loads and live loads, it is necessary to analyze the combination of the shear stresses from concentrated and distributed loads. A first series of experiments on the shear capacity of slabs only considered concentrated loads close to supports. Recommendations for

Design Aids for Singly-Reinforced Beams and One-Way Slabs

ACI Journal Proceedings, 1975
Graphs have been prepared for the design or analysis of singly reinforced beams and one-way slabs using the strength design method. A concrete strength of 3000 psi and a reinforcing steel strength of 60,000 psi has been used. Beams and slabs can be analyzed or designed by using these graphs. Two design examples are included to illustrate the use of the
