Crack Control in Post-Tensioned One-Way Slab Systems

SP-225: Serviceability of Concrete: A Symposium Honoring Dr. Edward G. Nawy, 2005
This paper presents an alternative procedure for computing restrained stresses induced by shrinkage and temperature effects. A method is proposed by which an equivalent shrinkage stress is calculated. The stress obtained is then used to design the shrinkage and temperature tendons.

Compressive membrane action in reinforced concrete one-way slabs

Australian Journal of Structural Engineering, 2004
The behaviour of reinforced concrete one-way slabs subjected to horizontal translational end restraint is described in this paper. The presence of the end restraint induces compressive membrane action in the slab, increasing its strength and stiffness above that calculated using flexural theory. The experimental component of this investigation involved

Design Aids for Singly-Reinforced Beams and One-Way Slabs

ACI Journal Proceedings, 1975
Graphs have been prepared for the design or analysis of singly reinforced beams and one-way slabs using the strength design method. A concrete strength of 3000 psi and a reinforcing steel strength of 60,000 psi has been used. Beams and slabs can be analyzed or designed by using these graphs. Two design examples are included to illustrate the use of the
