Representation of seismic sources in the one-way wave equations
Geophysics, 1990Abstract One-way extrapolation of downgoing and upgoing acoustic waves plays an essential role in the current practice of seismic migration (Berkhout, 1985; Stolt and Benson, 1986; Claerbout, 1985; Gardner, 1985). Generally, one-way wave equations are derived for the source-free situation.

Full-waveform inversion using the one-way wave equation
13th International Congress of the Brazilian Geophysical Society & EXPOGEF, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 26–29 August 2013, 2013The classical full-waveform inversion is a method for obtaining detailed velocity models of the subsurface, formulated as an inverse problem, in which modeling and adjoint operators use the two-way wave equation. Solving the wave equation with the two-way propagator is computationally demanding when compared to the less accurate one-way propagator ...

Effective Optimization to One-Way Wave Equation Migration
Proceedings, 2009Downward-continuation migration algorithms are a powerful tool for imaging complicated subsurface structures. The phase-shift plus interpolation (PSPI) algorithm is a downward-continuation algorithm that is still widely used in the industry due to its computational efficiency compared to other methods and its reasonable ability to handle lateral ...

One-way wave equations for seismoacoustic propagation in elastic waveguides
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1990One-way or parabolic wave equations for time-harmonic propagation in two-dimensional elastic waveguides are considered. It is shown that the direct application of a rational linear approximation with real coefficients to the elastic wave propagation case results in exponential growth in the numerical solutions.

Improved Amplitude Multi-One-Way Wave-Equation Migration
67th EAGE Conference & Exhibition, 2005F047 IMPROVED AMPLITUDE MULTI-ONE-WAY WAVE EQUATION MIGRATION Abstract 1 The migration algorithm based on improved amplitude multi-one-way modeling method is presented. The multione-way method allows to take into account the errors due to the factorization of the two-way wave equation by downgoing and upgoing one-way equations.

One-way wave-equation migration in log-polar coordinates
Geophysics, 2013ABSTRACT We obtained acoustic wave and wavefield extrapolation equations in log-polar coordinates (LPCs) and tried to enhance the imaging. To achieve this goal, it was necessary to decrease the angle between the wavefield extrapolation axis and wave propagation direction in the one-way wave-equation migration (WEM).

One‐way wave equation: Absorbing boundary and seismic migration
SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 1992, 1992A fast order differential system is formulated for one-way waves based on the characteristic analysis of a first order hyperbolic system and the optimization of the approximating dispersion relation. Corresponding scalar one-way wave equations are also obtained which are similar to the 45O paraxial approximation of the wave equation but are more ...

Imaging complex salt bodies with turning‐wave one‐way wave equation
SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2006, 2006We propose a modified version of one-way wave equation migration which incorporates true amplitude corrections to enhance steep dips and propagates wavefields to any possible directions. With this new method, turning waves can be properly imaged and the imaging capability of one-way wave equation is greatly improved.

One-way wave-equation migration of compressional and converted waves in a VTI medium
Geophysics, 2010Abstract In seismic reflection surveying, by recording both pressure and shear-wave reflections, one can increase the amount of information obtained about the subsurface rather than by recording pressure waves alone. Geologic structures that are not visible by using conventional pressure-data may possibly be imaged using shear waves ...
