The combination of software-defined networking (SDN) and satellite–ground integrated networks (SGINs) is gaining attention as a key infrastructure for meeting the granular quality-of-service (QoS) demands of next-generation mobile communications. However,

On the Advice Complexity of Online Matching on the Line [PDF]
We consider the matching problem on the line with advice complexity. We give a 1-competitive online algorithm with advice complexity $n-1,$ and show that there is no 1-competitive online algorithm reading less than $n-1$ bits of advice.

Do not let thermal drift and instrument artifacts deceive high‐temperature nanoindentation results. We compare classical Oliver–Pharr and automatic image recognition analyses across steels and a Ni alloy to quantify these effects. Accounting for artifacts reveals systematic softening with temperature, while Cr and Ni additions boost resistance ...

Competitive Analysis for Discrete Multiple Online Rental Problems
Many actual rental activities present online rental problems with multiple units of assets or equipment whose use can be continuous, separable, or discrete. Using online algorithms and competitive analysis, continuous multiple online rental problems have

An online self-adaptive RBF network algorithm based on the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm
Aiming at the problem that the Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) algorithm can not train online radial basis function (RBF) neural network and the deficiency in the RBF network structure design methods, this paper proposes an online self-adaptive algorithm for ...

The thesis consists of two parts, both dealing with issues of uncertainty and incentives in markets. In the first part we examine the online properties of markets. In most of the Mechanism Design literature, markets are studied under the assumption that all participants are present at the same time and can seamlessly interact with each other.

Optimization of the Production of Rubber Compounds Using Mathematical Models
Rubber compounds were mixed in a batch internal mixer, and symbolic regression was used to derive mathematical models linking recipe and process parameters to ram path, torque, and mixing quality (incorporation, dispersion, distribution). Subsequent optimization with evolutionary algorithms identified operating conditions that reduce specific energy ...

Robust simplex algorithm for online optimization
A new optimization algorithm is introduced for online optimization applications. The algorithm was modified from the popular Nelder-Mead simplex method to make it noise aware and noise resistant.
