Finite Viscoelastic Modeling of Ice Shelves Using Glen's Flow Law and Depth‐Dependent Material Properties

open access: yesProceedings in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 26, Issue 4, December 2026.
ABSTRACT Ice shelves are floating seaward extensions of glaciers that form where land‐based ice flows into the ocean. Recent observations suggest that their mechanical behavior is suitably described by a viscoelastic Maxwell model, as this framework captures both the instantaneous elastic response and the time‐dependent viscous flow of ice.

Turning Wind Into Value: Hydrogen Storage and Trade as Variation Management Strategies for Offshore Wind Integration

open access: yesWind Energy, Volume 29, Issue 11, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Offshore wind power, like other variable renewable electricity sources, requires variation management strategies (VMS) to address demand–supply imbalances in the electricity system. From a functional perspective, VMS that can absorb excess electricity are particularly well suited to wind power, which exhibits strong temporal variability.

Environmental Justice in the Brazilian Coastal Food Systems: Policies, Institutions, and Knowledges on Small‐Scale Fishers and Energy Development

open access: yesWorld Food Policy, Volume 12, Issue 2, November 2026.
ABSTRACT This study explores environmental justice issues in coastal food systems, focusing on conflicts between small‐scale fisheries and the energy sector due to differing goals in managing food and energy sources. It does so by examining the interdependence between institutions, policies, and different types of knowledge; key elements in building ...

Measuring Dry Deposition of Sea Spray Aerosol and Height of Aerosol Plume Using a Controlled Wave Pool

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 19, 16 October 2026.
Abstract Deposition of sea spray aerosols facilitates atmospheric corrosion of materials, requiring maintenance and replacement over time. However, the dimensions of sea spray aerosol plumes produced from breaking waves have not been well‐characterized, limiting useful prediction of particle transport downwind and atmospheric corrosion. Therefore, this

The Influence of Sea‐Land Breeze on the Circulation and Air‐Sea Thermodynamics of the Mississippi Sound and Bight

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 19, 16 October 2026.
Abstract High spatial and temporal resolution wind forcing is essential to capture the highly variable atmospheric circulation driving ocean currents in shallow waters and across complex coastal features in the Mississippi Sound. In this study, we examine the sensitivity of modeled hydrodynamics to sea‐land breeze (SLB) circulation. Two versions of the
