Caring labor and the affective economy in the making of the Caribbean
American Anthropologist, Volume 125, Issue 4, Page 824-839, December 2023., 2023 Abstract This article is a reflection on early colonial industries as caring labor rather than just commodity production or resistance. We draw on Indigenous philosophies of relations and Amazonian ontologies to foreground care and frame the Caribbean material record.
