Targeting the AKT/mTOR pathway attenuates the metastatic potential of colorectal carcinoma circulating tumor cells in a murine xenotransplantation model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dual targeting of AKT and mTOR using MK2206 and RAD001 reduces tumor burden in an intracardiac colon cancer circulating tumor cell xenotransplantation model. Analysis of AKT isoform‐specific knockdowns in CTC‐MCC‐41 reveals differentially regulated proteins and phospho‐proteins by liquid chromatography coupled mass spectrometry. Circulating tumor cells

Metrics and methods for comparative ontology evaluation

open access: yesCiência da Informação, 2017
While progress has been made toward describing the need for ontology evaluation and offering proposals concerning what properties to measure and how, work remains to develop ontology evaluation as a rigorous discipline.

Ontology Service Center: a datahub for ontology application [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Web & Semantic Technology, Vol. 12, No 2/3, July 2017, 2021
With the growth of data-oriented research in humanities, a large number of research datasets have been created and published through web services. However, how to discover, integrate and reuse these distributed heterogeneous research datasets is a challenging task.

Ontology ranking based on the analysis of concept structures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
In view of the need to provide tools to facilitate the reuse of existing knowledge structures such as ontologies, we present in this paper a system, AKTiveRank, for the ranking of ontologies.

Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.

On Parfit’s Ontology [PDF]

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Philosophy, 2018
Parfit denies that the introduction of reasons into our ontology is costly for his theory. He puts forth two positions to help establish the claim: the Plural Senses View and the Argument from Empty Ontology. I argue that, first, the Plural Senses View for ‘exists’ can be expanded to allow for senses which undermine his ontological claims; second, the ...

Aspect OntoMaven - Aspect-Oriented Ontology Development and Configuration With OntoMaven [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
In agile ontology-based software engineering projects support for modular reuse of ontologies from large existing remote repositories, ontology project life cycle management, and transitive dependency management are important needs. The contribution of this paper is a new design artifact called OntoMaven combined with a unified approach to ontology ...

Tonic signaling of the B‐cell antigen‐specific receptor is a common functional hallmark in chronic lymphocytic leukemia cell phosphoproteomes at early disease stages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
B‐cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B‐CLL) and monoclonal B‐cell lymphocytosis (MBL) show altered proteomes and phosphoproteomes, analyzed using mass spectrometry, protein microarrays, and western blotting. Identifying 2970 proteins and 316 phosphoproteins, including 55 novel phosphopeptides, we reveal BCR and NF‐kβ/STAT3 signaling in disease ...

The Information Flow Foundation for Conceptual Knowledge Organization [PDF]

open access: yesDynamism and Stability in Knowledge Organization, volume 7 of Advances in Knowledge Organization, pages 111-117. Ergon Verlag, 2000. Proceedings of the Sixth International ISKO Conference, 2018
The sharing of ontologies between diverse communities of discourse allows them to compare their own information structures with that of other communities that share a common terminology and semantics - ontology sharing facilitates interoperability between online knowledge organizations.
