Ontology-driven Semantic Mapping
2008When facilitating interoperability at the data level one faces the problem that different data models are used as the basis for business formats. For example relational databases are based on the relational model, while XML Schema is basically a hierarchical model (with some extensions, like references). Our goal is to provide a syntax and a data model

Discovering Mappings Between Ontologies
2009Knowledge Representation is important part of AI. The purpose is to reveal best possible representation of the Universe of Discourse (UoD) by capturing entities, concepts and relations among them. With increased understanding of various scientific and technological disciplines, it is possible to derive rules that governs the behaviour and outcome of ...

(Semi-)automatic mapping - also called (semi-) automatic alignment - of ontologies is a core task to achieve interoperability when two agents or services use different ontologies. In the existing literature, the focus has so far been on improving the quality of mapping results. We here consider QOM, Quick Ontology Mapping, as a way to trade off between

The Semantic Web presents new opportunities for enabling modelling, sharing and reasoning with knowledge available on the web. These are made possible through the formal representation of the knowledge domain with ontologies. Ontology is also seen as a key factor for enabling interoperability across heterogeneous systems.

Semantic annotation: mapping text to ontologies
International Journal of Metadata, Semantics and Ontologies, 2007This position paper discusses various issues concerning the semantic web. We claim that reflection on formats has attracted the most important part of the research effort so far, whereas the web (including the future semantic web) is mainly made of texts.

An Ontology for Mapping Cerebral Death
2017Brain death is one of the most serious diagnoses that can be diagnosed in a patient. The possibility to detect it before its happening is one of the possible steps for the prevention of this event. The x-rays – Computed Tomography scans, are a very important test for the detection of this diagnosis.

Distance computation of ontology vector for ontology similarity measuring and ontology mapping
Journal of Difference Equations and Applications, 2016In recent years, various kinds of learning techniques are applied in ontology similarity measuring and ontology mapping algorithms. The essence of these learning tricks is attributed to obtaining obtain a score function which is employed for calculating the similarity between vertices.

Ontology-Supported Scaffolding of Concept Maps
2011Concept maps are often used in inquiry learning as tools for conceptual modelling, but also as a means to externalise and diagnose conceptual understanding. The latter use is closely related to intelligent feedback and scaffolding. Previous approaches used an expert concept map as a reference to generate intelligent feedback.

Ontology of Geological Mapping
2016In this thesis, an ontology for the geological mapping domain is constructed using the Prot‚g‚ ontology editor. The Geological Mapping ontology is developed using terms and relationships, and their properties, as they relate to creating a geologic map. This vocabulary is semantically modeled in the ontology using Web Ontology Language (OWL).
