Perforated-Groove, Self-Cleaning, Open-End Spinning Rotors
Textile Research Journal, 1979This progress report describes a new type of self-cleaning, open-end spinning rotor. Rotors were modified by drilling holes of different numbers, sizes, and angles in the rotor groove. Accumulation of rotor dust was significantly less for the perforated than for the control rotors. The perforated rotors removed short fiber as well as dust and produced

Open-End Spinning Using Air-Jet Twisting
Textile Research Journal, 1999Open-end jet spinning, a new spinning concept, combines the advantages of both air-jet twisting and open-end spinning, and a device is designed to test this concept. The properties of the yam are measured and compared with those of some other spun yarns.

An Experimental Study of an Open-end Disc–spinning Concept
Journal of the Textile Institute, 1992The basic principle of a novel open-end-spinning technique, termed disc spinning, is described. In this technique, the four fundamental actions common to other open-end-spinning methods occur simultaneously but separately, in particular those of fibre collection and twist insertion. Results are given of ‘proof-of-concept’ experiments undertaken.

23—THE SIGNIFICANCE OF YARN TENSION IN OPEN-END SPINNING
The Journal of The Textile Institute, 1976The theortical relation between yarn-mass variation and the variation of yarn-spinning tension for open-end rotor-spinnig is derived, and it is shown experimentally that spinning-tension measurement represents a useful means of assessment of yarn irregularity.

The Use of Open-End Spinning for Short Staple Cottons
Textile Research Journal, 1975This paper presents the results of an investigation on the use of short staple cottons for open-end spinning. Several cottons and waste mixings 7/8-in. and less in staple length have been spun on the OE and ring-spinning systems to dif ferent counts, and yarn properties have been determined.
