Digital Transformation of Open-Pit Coal Mining in Russia

2021
The main goal of this paper is to throw the light upon new possibilities of the contemporary digitalization age for the coal mining industry, as well as to identify its advantages for the Russian coal industry. Taking into account the permanent trend of coal demand weakening and declining of carbon intensity of energy consumption over the last years ...

The Coal Mining Model Under Slippery Slope in Yiminhe Open Pit Coal Mines

Geotechnical and Geological Engineering, 2019
To study the unloading of in situ rock stress in coalmining process, mechanics analysis has been carried out, according to which, a stress unloading arch tends to come into being where the slopes are of short strike length. Due to the differences existing between the reserved supporting body and the backfill supporting body, the combined arch walls are

Monitoring and control airblast overpressures in an open pit coal mine

Physics and Chemistry of the Earth, Parts A/B/C, 2021
Abstract Besides ground vibrations, air transmitted vibrations or airblast overpressures (AOp), are also generated during blasting operations. Mae Moh coal mine, Thailand, has been concerned about both ground and air vibrations because the residents nearby are located less than 2 km to the southeast of the mine.

Sizing Storage Facilities For Open Pit Coal Mines

IIE Transactions, 1985
Abstract This paper develops a general procedure to size storage facilities for open pit coal mines. More particularly, the paper presents (1) deterministic models for estimating working stock requirements, and (2) simulation models in the SLAM language which can be used to analyze safety stock requirements.

Replacement Study of Off-Highway Trucks in an Open-Pit Coal Mine in Turkey

Mineral Resources Engineering, 2000
The proper assignment of equipment can be achieved by insuring a timely investment and a timely replacement policy through the mine life. Mine design engineers must constantly decide whether existing assets should be continued in service or whether available new assets will better and more economically meet current and future needs. These decision must

Buckling failure at an open-pit coal mine

1996
A very complex failure took place at an open-pit coal mine in the eastern Turkey. The floor of the open-pit heaved up as a result of the buckling failure of the coal seam and a combined form of shear and sliding failure of slope benches occurcd. The investigations showed that a weak clay band within the coal seam was the main cause of the failure.

Design of open pit coal mine slopes: An integrated approach

International Journal of Surface Mining, Reclamation and Environment, 1987
ABSTRACT Many of the coal deposits of Western Canada exhibit intensely folded and/or faulted strata. Geological evaluation of such deposits is often difficult and uncertain, and interpretations are subject to significant modifications throughout the exploration, development and mining phases.
