Planning of public green open spaces to foster social interaction

open access: yes, 2021
Urban areas are magnets for most of the people who look for job opportunities, technology, resources and proper facilities. In this process of urban development, the human scale is ignored; also, the social structure is disappeared.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Surakarta’s Green Open Spaces: An Exploration of Their Biodiversity

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science
Abstract Surakarta, also known as Solo, is strategically located to serve as a center of national activities. It is a key region of Central Java Province and forms part of the Joglosemar (Yogyakarta-Solo-Semarang) economic triangle. These factors have led to changes in land use for infrastructure development. As a

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Overlooked potentials of open spaces – new types and categories of urban landscapes [PDF]

open access: yesUrbani Izziv, 2001
Cities possess numerous overlooked and under-utilised potential spaces for organising green surfaces and open urban spaces. They are defined by their position in the city, adequate contents nearby that could attract visitors and actual availability of ...

Urban sustainability indicators and open green spaces

open access: yes, 2023
Sustainability is a key concept used in many fields today. The concept, which takes its place in the urban planning literature, offers solutions against the negative effects of urbanization and rapid industrialization on societies and the environment.

Landscape Fragmentation and Accessibility of Green Spaces

open access: yes, 2019
To improve the positive effects provided by green spaces on human well-being in dispersed urban areas is a key challenge for sustainable spatial development in Europe. This article presents a methodology that allows for the comparison of the potential of
