Long-term investigation of an open cluster Berkeley 65

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences
We present a decade-long investigation of a poorly studied cluster, Berkeley 65 (Be 65), using deep optical data from the telescopes of ARIES, Nainital Observatory.

A super lithium-rich red-clump star in the open cluster Trumpler 5 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Context. The existence of lithium-rich low-mass red giant stars still represents a challenge for stellar evolution models. Stellar clusters are privileged environments for this kind of investigation. Aims. To investigate the chemical abundance pattern of

The open cluster Berkeley 53 [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, 2009
AbstractWe present a photometric study of the neglected open cluster Berkeley 53. We derived its fundamental parameters, such as the age, the interstellar reddening, and the distance from the Sun, based on BV photometry combined with near‐infrared JHKS data.

The thioredoxin‐like and one glutaredoxin domain are required to rescue the iron‐starvation phenotype of HeLa GLRX3 knock out cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Glutaredoxin (Grx) 3 proteins contain a thioredoxin domain and one to three class II Grx domains. These proteins play a crucial role in iron homeostasis in eukaryotic cells. In human Grx3, at least one of the two Grx domains, together with the thioredoxin domain, is essential for its function in iron metabolism.

A RAVE investigation on galactic open clusters. II, Open cluster pairs, groups and complexes

open access: yes, 2017
CONTEXT: It is generally agreed upon that stars form in open clusters (OCs) and stellar associations, but little is known about structures in the Galactic OC population; whether OCs and stellar associations are born isolated or if they prefer to form in

WIYN OPEN CLUSTER STUDY. LIX. RADIAL VELOCITY MEMBERSHIP OF THE EVOLVED POPULATION OF THE OLD OPEN CLUSTER NGC 6791 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The open cluster NGC 6791 has been the focus of much recent study due to its intriguing combination of old age and high metallicity (∼8 Gyr, [Fe/H] = +0.30), as well as its location within the Kepler field.

Revisiting the Open Cluster M35 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We present a photometric and spectroscopic study of the young open cluster M35, including very deep and accurate photometry of the stellar (including white dwarfs) and substellar population of the cluster, a complete mass function, rotational and radial velocities, and lithium abundances.

Open clusters and the galactic disk [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, 2010
AbstractIt is textbook knowledge that open clusters are conspicuous members of the thin disk of our Galaxy, but their role as contributors to the stellar population of the disk was regarded as minor. Starting from a homogenous stellar sky survey, the ASCC‐2.5, we revisited the population of open clusters in the solar neighbourhood from scratch.

Evolutionary interplay between viruses and R‐loops

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses interact with specialized nucleic acid structures called R‐loops to influence host transcription, epigenetic states, latency, and immune evasion. This Perspective examines the roles of R‐loops in viral replication, integration, and silencing, and how viruses co‐opt or avoid these structures.

Red Clump stars in Kepler open cluster NGC 6819

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2015
We measure the large frequency separation, Δν, and the frequency of maximum amplitude, νmax, for 10 Red Clump (RC) single member (SM) stars in the Kepler open cluster NGC 6819. We derive luminosities and masses for each individual RC star.
