The Dynamics of Open Clusters [PDF]
Many of the “observations” of dark matter involve the application of the virial theorem or more sophisticated dynamical models to bound gravitational systems. Such studies often adopt a certain mass function and assume that the system is in a state near equipartition.

Asteroseismology in Open Clusters [PDF]
Within two groups or networks we are trying to build the observational fundamentals for better tests of stellar evolution. The first group is STACC (Small Telescope Array with CCD Cameras) and the second the EU HCM program ANTENA (involving institutes in Spain, France and Denmark). The first information needed is photometric data.

Open clusters in Auriga OB2 [PDF]
We study the area around the H ii region Sh 2-234, including the young open cluster Stock 8, to investigate the extent and definition of the association Aur OB2 and the possible role of triggering in massive cluster formation. We obtained Strömgren and J, H, KS photometry for Stock 8 and Strömgren photometry for two other cluster candidates in the area,

The dual nature of TDC – bridging dendritic and T cells in immunity
TDC are hematopoietic cells combining dendritic and T cell features. They reach secondary lymphoid organs (SLOs) and peripheral organs (liver and lungs) after FLT3‐dependent development in the bone marrow and maturation in the thymus. TDC are activated and enriched in SLOs upon viral infection, suggesting that they might play unique immune roles, since

The shape of nearby Open Clusters
We use new memberships from Gaia DR2 to investigate the shape of the nearest open clusters. We investigate their 2D distribution projected on the sky and fit two gaussians components on the central part and external envelope. For open clusters closer than 200 pc from the Sun, we fit 3D ellipsoids on the spatial distribution of the members.

In vivo IL‐10 produced by tissue‐resident tolDC is involved in maintaining/inducing tolerance. Depending on the agent used for ex vivo tolDC generation, cells acquire common features but prime T cells towards anergy, FOXP3+ Tregs, or Tr1 cells according to the levels of IL‐10 produced. Ex vivo‐induced tolDC were administered to patients to re‐establish/

Metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) affects nearly one‐third of the global population and poses a significant risk of progression to cirrhosis or liver cancer. Here, we discuss the roles of hepatic dendritic cell subtypes in MASLD, highlighting their distinct contributions to disease initiation and progression, and their ...

The glacier ice worm Mesenchytraeus solifugus survives year‐round at 0 °C. Its ATP6 subunit, which forms a regulatory component of the proton pore in mitochondrial ATP synthase, has a carboxy‐terminal extension not found in any other organism examined to date. Here, we show that fusion of this extension to the homologous AtpB protein in E. coli results

Open source clustering software [PDF]
Abstract Summary: We have implemented k-means clustering, hierarchical clustering and self-organizing maps in a single multipurpose open-source library of C routines, callable from other C and C++ programs. Using this library, we have created an improved version of Michael Eisen's well-known Cluster program for Windows, Mac OS X and ...
