The Diameters of Open Clusters
Publications of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, 1967The intrinsic diameters of the nine Trumpler classes of open clusters are reexamined. For unreddened or slightly reddened clusters, photometric data are used to find distances and intrinsic diameters of three Trumpler classes. An examination of reddened clusters of these classes indicates no systematic variation in the ratio of total to selective ...

Open Clusters and Superbubbles
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2010This paper is the continuation of our work of 2008 concerning the open clusters (OCs) in system of the radio loops I–IV. In the present paper we have studied the location of OCs in relation to the Local Bubble, the Eridanus Superbubble and the Gum Nebula. As before, extremely low density of OCs from Kharchenko et al. and Dias et al.

The observable properties of star clusters hold vital information concerning the star formation process. In this introductory chapter we review the properties of open clusters within the Galaxy. Starting with the most basic properties of open clusters, such as age, mass and metallicity, we then move onto a discussion of how these properties vary ...

We want to compare the colour-magnitude diagrams of several open clusters (Figure 71). These diagrams will of course differ because of the different distances. Apart from this effect, one might expect to find in all of them the same relation between colour and magnitude, as long as the stars have not evolved away from the ‘zero age main sequence’ (ZAMS)

Metallicities of open clusters
Astronomische Nachrichten, 1991AbstractThe main aim of this paper is (i) to examine the available metallicity data of open clusters, (ii) to gather a large set of homogeneous estimations of the characteristics, and (iii) to check whether open cluster metallicities are related to spatial and age distribution of these objects.

We have used the Lund catalogue of Open Cluster Data, kindly supplied by Gosta Lynga (1987) and updated by Kenneth Janes (1989). This data has been used by Lynga and Palous (1987) to describe the local kinematics of open star clusters, and by Janes, Tilley, and Lynga (1988) to describe the general properties of the open cluster system.
