SODIUM AND OXYGEN ABUNDANCES IN THE OPEN CLUSTER NGC 6791 FROM APOGEE H-BAND SPECTROSCOPY [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The open cluster NGC 6791 is among the oldest, most massive, and metal-rich open clusters in the Galaxy. High-resolution H-band spectra from the Apache Point Observatory Galactic Evolution Experiment (APOGEE) of 11 red giants in NGC 6791 are analyzed for

Modifications in FLAP's second cytosolic loop influence 5‐LOX interaction, inhibitor binding, and leukotriene formation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The enzyme 5‐lipoxygenase (5‐LOX) catalyzes the first step in the biosynthesis of leukotrienes (LTs) involved in inflammatory pathophysiology. After cellular stimulation, 5‐LOX translocates to the nucleus, interacting with the 5‐LOX‐activating protein (FLAP) to form LTA4 from arachidonic acid (AA).

Theia 456: Tidally Shredding an Open Cluster

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
The application of clustering algorithms to the Gaia astrometric catalog has revolutionized our census of stellar populations in the milky Way, including the discovery of many new dispersed structures. We focus on one such structure, Theia 456 (COIN-Gaia-

Multicolor CCD Photometry of the Open Cluster IC 361

open access: yesOpen Astronomy, 2010
CCD photometry in the eight-color Vilnius + I system for 7250 stars down to I =19.6 mag has been obtained in the 20′ × 26′ field of the open cluster IC 361 in Camelopardalis. The catalog of 1420 stars down to V ~ 18.5 mag is presented.

SMEs’ Degree of Openness: The Case of Manufacturing Industries

open access: yesJournal of Technology Management & Innovation, 2012
This paper clusters SMEs based on their degree of openness. In addition, it explores both the internal and external determinants of the different clusters obtained. Based on a survey of 1214 firms in manufacturing industries and using both the dimensions

Gaia-ESO Survey: Properties of the intermediate age open cluster NGC 4815 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Context. NGC 4815 is a populous similar to 500 Myr open cluster at R-gc similar to 7 kpc observed in the first six months of the Gaia-ESO Survey. Located in the inner Galactic disk, NGC 4815 is an important potential tracer of the abundance gradient ...

NGC 6994: an open cluster which is not an open cluster

open access: yes, 2000
We report on CCD photometry in the Johnson B,V and I passbands for 146 stars in a 9' \times 9' region around the southern aggregate NGC 6994 (C 2056-128), which appears in the Lynga (1987) catalogue of open star clusters. We argue that this object is not really an open cluster, but simply a random enhancement of four bright stars above the background ...

Pulsatin stars in open clusters [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications in Asteroseismology, 2007
We report studies that are carried out with the aim of searching for and studying short-period variable stars in northern open clusters. The background for these studies is described along with the results that have been obtained up to now.

B cell mechanobiology in health and disease: emerging techniques and insights into therapeutic responses

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
B cells sense external mechanical forces and convert them into biochemical signals through mechanotransduction. Understanding how malignant B cells respond to physical stimuli represents a groundbreaking area of research. This review examines the key mechano‐related molecules and pathways in B lymphocytes, highlights the most relevant techniques to ...

Evidence for a Catastrophically Disrupted Open Cluster

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Of the many discoveries uncovered by the Gaia astrometric mission, some of the most exciting are related to nearby dispersed stellar structures. We analyze one such structure in the Milky Way disk, OCSN-49, a coeval stellar stream with 257 identified ...
