Finite element analysis of fretting crack propagation
In this work, the finite elements method (FEM) is used to analyse the growth of fretting cracks. FEM can be favourably used to extract the stress intensity factors in mixed mode, a typical situation for cracks growing in the vicinity of a fretting ...

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

Identification of open cracks using wavelet analysis [PDF]
Damage detection in flexural members by wavelet analysis involves certain important factors such as the choice of wavelet function, the effects of windowing and the effects of masking due to the presence of noise during measurement. A numerical study has

This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.

Investigation of an Open Loop Resonator for Crack Detection
Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) of composite systems is challenging due to multiple factors unique to composites. Early detection of any defects in composites is essential to ensure structural integrity and prevent catastrophic failure.

The mechanics of delamination in fiber-reinforced composite materials. Part 1: Stress singularities and solution structure [PDF]
The fundamental mechanics of delamination in fiber composite laminates is studied. Mathematical formulation of the problem is based on laminate anisotropic elasticity theory and interlaminar fracture mechanics concepts.

Inhibition of CDK9 enhances AML cell death induced by combined venetoclax and azacitidine
The CDK9 inhibitor AZD4573 downregulates c‐MYC and MCL‐1 to induce death of cytarabine (AraC)‐resistant AML cells. This enhances VEN + AZA‐induced cell death significantly more than any combination of two of the three drugs in AraC‐resistant AML cells.

Implementation of a Matrix Crack Spacing Parameter in a Continuum Damage Mechanics Finite Element Model [PDF]
Continuum Damage Mechanics (CDM) based progressive damage and failure analysis (PDFA) methods have demonstrated success in a variety of finite element analysis (FEA) implementations.

Quasi-static cracks and minimal energy surfaces [PDF]
We compare the roughness of minimal energy(ME) surfaces and scalar ``quasi-static'' fracture surfaces(SQF). Two dimensional ME and SQF surfaces have the same roughness scaling, w sim L^zeta (L is system size) with zeta = 2/3.
