Finite Element Vibration Analysis of a Rotor System with an Open Crack (Analysis of Natural Frequency and Double Frequency Vibration in the Case with the Asymmetric Support Stiffness Characteristics)

open access: yes, 2012
©2012 The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers This paper develops an analytical method of the vibration of the finite element rotating shaft model with an open crack which was developed in our previous study. Particularly, the case with the directional

THE EFFECT OF BIAXIAL STATIC LOADS ON CRACK BEHAVIOR IN DIFFERENT COMPOSITE MATERIAL SAMPLES

open access: yesJournal of Engineering and Sustainable Development, 2018
The study of crack propagation and crack behavior in composite materials is an important issue in fracture mechanics. Compact Tension (CT) specimens are made from three different composite materials’ forms, fiberglass/polyester, Kevlar/polyester and ...

Numerical Formulation on Crack Closing Effect In Buckling Analysis of Edge-Cracked Columns [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Rehabilitation in Civil Engineering, 2014
In this paper, buckling of simply supported column with an edge crack is investigated numerically and analytically. Four different scenarios of damage severities are applied to a column, open crack assumption and the effect of closing crack in stability ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Study on the Development Rule of Mudstone Cracks in Open-Pit Mine Dumps Improved with Xanthan Gum

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The stability of open-pit mine slopes is crucial for safety, especially for spoil dump slopes, which are prone to cracks leading to landslides. This study investigates the use of xanthan gum (XG) to enhance the stability of mudstone in spoil dumps ...

Compression and Shear Fracture Analysis of Boundary Cracks Containing Water in Rock

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2020
In order to conserve the water resource during underground mining, the fracture and mechanical properties of rock are important for the stability of water-resisting layers, especially for the fracture behavior of boundary cracks containing water in rock.

Cracking Open the European Newsfeed

open access: yesJournal of Quantitative Description: Digital Media, 2023
This paper contributes to the ongoing effort to describe and quantify the quality of information that is shared on large social media platforms. We do this by complementing existing research that provided a first quantitative assessment of the quality of the information circulating on Facebook among US users.

Influences of T-stress on constraint effect in mismatched modified boundary layer model for creep crack [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Constraint effect plays an important role in assessing the stress field and the growth rate of creep crack in components under high temperature. The mismatched modified boundary layer (MMBL) model is extended to creep crack in this paper.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative
