URINE PRODUCTION AND BLADDER FUNCTION IN FETUSES WITH OPEN SPINA BIFIDA

jpme, 1988
Hourly fetal urine production rate (HFUPR) and bladder filling and voiding were determined by real-time ultrasonography in 13 fetuses with open spina bifida (OSB) and compared with those of 101 normal fetuses from uncomplicated pregnancies at 16–40 weeks gestation.

Correlation of fetal ventricular size and need for postnatal cerebrospinal fluid diversion surgery in open spina bifida

Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology, 2021
Open spina bifida is a common cause of hydrocephalus in the postnatal period. In‐utero closure of the fetal spinal defect decreases the need for postnatal cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) diversion surgery. Good prenatal predictors of the need for postnatal CSF

The Predictive Value of Use of Dry Brain Sign as Simple Sonographic Marker of Open Spina Bifida at First Trimester Anomaly Scan

The Quarterly journal of medicine
Spina Bifida is the most common congenital abnormality of the central nervous system it was detected during 2nd trimester anomaly scan; it is a congenital defect of neural tube closure that occurs exactly between 24 and 26 days of gestation.

Development of a Virtual Da Vinci Xi Training Simulator for Robotic In-Utero Open Spina Bifida Repair - Preliminary Results

Proceedings of the 16th Hamlyn Symposium on Medical Robotics 2024
Open spina bifida (OSB) is a spinal defect seen in developing fetuses. An in-utero approach to repair has improved outcomes and reduced risk of comorbidities in both mother and baby [1].

2mm Diameter Continuum Robot Tools for Suturing in Open Spina Bifida Repair

IEEE/RJS International Conference on Intelligent RObots and Systems
Open Spina Bifida (OSB) is a congenital neural tube defect where a major component of the procedure to repair the defect involves the closure of a lesion wound through suturing.

Feasibility of daVinci-based 2mm Tendon Driven Continuum Tools r Robotic Repair of Open Spina Bifida

Proceedings of the 16th Hamlyn Symposium on Medical Robotics 2024
Open Spina Bifida (OSB) is a neural tube defect where a section of the spinal cord develops outside the back of the fetus in the form of a lesion. A successful repair involves the dissection of the spinal cord from its’ surrounding lesion and then ...

An economic appraisal of the benefits of screening for open spina bifida

Social Science & Medicine, 1982
Appraisal of the costs and benefits of public sector programmes is an essential part of planning the optimal allocation of society's resources. This paper reports a study of the potential benefits to be derived if the UK National Health Services (NHS) were to introduce a mass-screening programme for the prenatal detection of fetuses affected by open ...
