On the assessment of the nature of open star clusters and the determination of their basic parameters with limited data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Our knowledge of stellar evolution and of the structure and chemical evolution of the Galactic disk largely builds on the study of open star clusters. Because of their crucial role in these relevant topics, large homogeneous catalogues of open cluster ...

Galactic Rotation from Young Open Star Clusters [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1980
The rotation of the Galaxy can best be studied with the aid of tracers for which distance and velocity can be obtained simultaneously, accurately and unambiguously out to large distances. Clearly, the best objects are the very young clusters. The local gradient of the angular velocity is contained in Oort's constant and, due e.g. to perturbations from

Variable stars in young open star clusters

open access: yesBulletin de la Société Royale des Sciences de Liège, 2018
We have carried out time series photometry of the some young open clusters NGC 1893, Be 59, NGC 7380, Stock 8 and NGC 281 to search for pre-main-sequence variable stars. We have detected several pre-main-sequence variables associated to the young open clusters with periods ranging from ~0.1 to ~50 days.

New variable stars in open clusters [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics, 2004
We present high precision CCD photometry of 1791 objects in 20 open clusters with an age from 10 Myr to 1 Gyr. These observations were performed within the Delta a photometric system which is primarily used to detect chemically peculiar stars of the upper main sequence. Time bases range between 30 minutes and up to 60 days with data from several nights.

Automated search for galactic star clusters in large multiband surveys: I. Discovery of 15 new open clusters in the Galactic anticenter region [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Aims: According to some estimations, there are as many as 100000 open clusters in the Galaxy, but less than 2000 of them have been discovered, measured, and cataloged. We plan to undertake data mining of multiwavelength surveys to find new star clusters.

CP3 Stars in Open Clusters [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Astronomical Union Colloquium, 1993
AbstractAbt published in 1979 frequencies of peculiar stars in open clusters based on published classifications for 661 stars in 14 open clusters and associations. Among others he discussed an age dependence of the frequencies of CP3 stars and found them increasing with age. Furthermore, he suggested a possible age dependence of the rotational velocity

Star clusters in the Sh2-132 complex: clues about the connection between embedded and open clusters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Embedded clusters are formed in molecular clouds where massive stars can produce HII regions. The detailed embedded-open cluster evolutionary connection as well as the origin of associations are yet to be unveiled.

Pulsatin stars in open clusters [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications in Asteroseismology, 2007
We report studies that are carried out with the aim of searching for and studying short-period variable stars in northern open clusters. The background for these studies is described along with the results that have been obtained up to now.

Evolution and appearance of Be stars in SMC clusters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Star clusters are privileged laboratories for studying the evolution of massive stars (OB stars). One particularly interesting question concerns the phases, during which the classical Be stars occur, which unlike HAe/Be stars, are not pre-main sequence ...

Binary Star Evolution in Different Environments: Filamentary, Fractal, Halo, and Tidal Tail Clusters

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 2023
Using membership of 85 open clusters from previous studies based on Gaia Data Release 3 data, we identify binary candidates in the color–magnitude diagram for systems with mass ratio q > 0.4.
