Introduction to OpenFlow

open access: yes, 2018
The SDN controller is interfaced with the hardware of the network (i.e., with switches and routers) using OpenFlow. Basically, OpenFlow is an open interface used for configuring the forwarding tables of network switch according to the desired path derived by the SDN controller.

OpenFlow: A security analysis

2013 21st IEEE International Conference on Network Protocols (ICNP), 2013
Software Defined Networking (SDN) has been proposed as a drastic shift in the networking paradigm, by decoupling network control from the data plane and making the switching infrastructure truly programmable. The key enabler of SDN, OpenFlow, has seen widespread deployment on production networks and its adoption is constantly increasing.
