Transactional Memory and OpenMP [PDF]
Future generations of Chip Multiprocessors (CMP) will provide dozens or even hundreds of cores inside the chip. Writing applications that benefit from the massive computational power offered by these chips is not going to be an easy task for mainstream programmers who are used to sequential algorithms rather than parallel ones.

Towards the Translation of OpenMP to Hybrid MPI/OpenMP [PDF]
Though it is possible to use pure OpenMP or pure MPI to develop parallel and distributed memory applications respectively, both are often combined in a hybrid MPI/OpenMP model to target clusters of multi-core nodes.

This paper presents an overview of an ongoing NSF-sponsored project for the study of runtime systems and compilers to support the development of efficient OpenMP parallel programs for distributed memory systems. The first part of the paper discusses a prototype compiler, now under development, that will accept OpenMP and will target TreadMarks, a ...

In this paper we present our experiences parallelizing the C++ programs DROPS and FIRE with OpenMP. Though the OpenMP specification includes C++, several shortcomings and missing features can be noticed in both the current OpenMP compilers and the specification.
