Holomorphic field theories and higher algebra

open access: yesBulletin of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 57, Issue 10, Page 2903-2974, October 2025.
Abstract Aimed at complex geometers and representation theorists, this survey explores higher dimensional analogs of the rich interplay between Riemann surfaces, Virasoro and Kac‐Moody Lie algebras, and conformal blocks. We introduce a panoply of examples from physics — field theories that are holomorphic in nature, such as holomorphic Chern‐Simons ...

Homotopical commutative rings and bispans

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 111, Issue 6, June 2025.
Abstract We prove that commutative semirings in a cartesian closed presentable ∞$\infty$‐category, as defined by Groth, Gepner, and Nikolaus, are equivalent to product‐preserving functors from the (2,1)‐category of bispans of finite sets. In other words, we identify the latter as the Lawvere theory for commutative semirings in the ∞$\infty$‐categorical

Plethysm Products, Element– and Plus Constructions

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Mathématique
Motivated by viewing categories as bimodule monoids over their isomorphism groupoids, we construct monoidal structures called plethysm products on three levels: that is for bimodules, relative bimodules and factorizable bimodules.

The Mumford conjecture (after Bianchi)

open access: yesJournal of Topology, Volume 18, Issue 1, March 2025.
Abstract We give a self‐contained and streamlined rendition of Andrea Bianchi's recent proof of the Mumford conjecture using moduli spaces of branched covers.

On the parameterized Tate construction

open access: yesJournal of Topology, Volume 18, Issue 1, March 2025.
Abstract We introduce and study a genuine equivariant refinement of the Tate construction associated to an extension Ĝ$\widehat{G}$ of a finite group G$G$ by a compact Lie group K$K$, which we call the parameterized Tate construction (−)tGK$(-)^{t_G K}$.

The Disc-structure space

open access: yesForum of Mathematics, Pi
We study the $\mathscr {D}\mathrm {isc}$ -structure space $S^{\mathscr {D}\mathrm {isc}}_\partial (M)$ of a compact smooth manifold M. Informally speaking, this space measures the difference between M, together with its diffeomorphisms, and ...

OPERADS AND JET MODULES

open access: yesInternational Journal of Geometric Methods in Modern Physics, 2005
Let A be an algebra over an operad in a cocomplete closed symmetric monoidal category. We study the category of A-modules. We define certain symmetric product functors of such modules generalizing the tensor product of modules over commutative algebras, which we use to define the notion of a jet module.

Double Copy From Tensor Products of Metric BV■‐Algebras

open access: yesFortschritte der Physik, Volume 73, Issue 1-2, February 2025.
Abstract Field theories with kinematic Lie algebras, such as field theories featuring color–kinematics duality, possess an underlying algebraic structure known as BV■‐algebra. If, additionally, matter fields are present, this structure is supplemented by a module for the BV■‐algebra.

Towards Unifying Structures in Higher Spin Gauge Symmetry

open access: yesSymmetry, Integrability and Geometry: Methods and Applications, 2008
This article is expository in nature, outlining some of the many still incompletely understood features of higher spin field theory. We are mainly considering higher spin gauge fields in their own right as free-standing theoretical constructs and not ...
