Tear Characteristics of the VDU Operator

Optometry and Vision Science, 1991
The volume and stability of the tear film was measured in a small group of Visual Display Unit (VDU) operators and a non-VDU operating group. Using noninvasive methods of tear measurement, we found no difference in precorneal tear film stability between the two groups; however, the tear volume of the VDU users was greater than in the non-VDU operating ...

The illumination characteristics of operative microscopes

American Journal of Otolaryngology, 2015
Modern operative microscopes use light sources which possess the power to severely damage underlying tissue. Currently, manufacturers provide a safety warning of this possibility. However, they are unable to suggest specific settings due to a stated "lack of scientific publications on this topic".

The Characteristics in Operation of Surgical Lasers

Surgical Clinics of North America, 1984
The three separate laser applications involved in laser surgery--laser surgery, photocoagulation, and photoradiation therapy--are explored to provide an understanding of the fundamental physical properties of the laser device. How diseased tissue is selectively treated by matching the absorption characteristics of the tissue to the laser and how the ...

Receiver operating characteristics of Radio VisioGraphy

Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology, and Endodontology, 1995
The diagnostic utility of intra-oral images obtained from the RVG second generation digital imaging system are compared with standard film images with the use of receiver operating characteristic analysis. Ten phantoms were constructed, each with 8 extracted teeth that had 12 approximal surfaces per phantom with holes drilled randomly to simulate ...

Operating Characteristics of a 35 GHz Gyromonotron

1979 International Conference on Submillimeter Waves and Their Applications, 1979
Results of experiments on the characteristics of a single cavity gyrotron oscillator are presented. The device produces 150 KW, has an efficiency of 31% and a pulse length of 10 msec. The linewidth of the emitted radiation appears to be limited by the droop in the power supply, and was measured to be 1.5 MHz. A tapered cavity is used in the oscillator.
