Expression and DNA methylation of 20S proteasome subunits as prognostic and resistance markers in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Comprehensive analysis of genomic mutations, gene expression, DNA methylation, and pathway analysis of TCGA data was carried out to define cancer types in which proteasome subunits expression is associated with worse survival. Albeit the effect of specific proteasome subunits on cellular function, the main role of the proteasome is better evaluated ...

Protocol for a prospective randomized trial of surgical versus conservative management for unstable fractures of the distal radius in patients aged 65 years and older: the Elderly - Fixation Of the Radius: Radiological and Clinical Evaluation (eFORRCE) trial

open access: yesBone & Joint Open
Aims: The primary aim of this study is to quantify and compare outcomes following a dorsally displaced fracture of the distal radius in elderly patients (aged ≥ 65 years) who are managed conservatively versus with surgical fixation (open reduction and ...

To Operate or not to Operate? That is the question

open access: yesJournal of ISAKOS, 2018
Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries amongst children worry us more than other age groups. An ACL rupture can limit a child’s present physical activity and contentment. But it can also threaten his or her adulthood, with an increased risk of further injury, leading to meniscal tears and early osteoarthritis.

Detecting homologous recombination deficiency for breast cancer through integrative analysis of genomic data

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study develops a semi‐supervised classifier integrating multi‐genomic data (1404 training/5893 validation samples) to improve homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) detection in breast cancer. Our method demonstrates prognostic value and predicts chemotherapy/PARP inhibitor sensitivity in HRD+ tumours.
