Substituent‐Guided Routing in Chemical Reaction Networks

open access: yesChemSystemsChem, Volume 8, Issue 6, November 2026.
Substituents act as molecular traffic directors, routing EDC‐fueled oligoesterification either into a constrained reversible dimer loop or through an interconnected, scrambling‐enabled network of higher oligomers. ABSTRACT Metabolism is a complex chemical reaction network (CRN) that distributes reaction flux across multiple pathways, and mimicking such

Lachnospiraceae in the Food–Gut Axis: A Critical Review of Dietary Modulation, Immune Regulation, and Translational Barriers

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 6, November 2026.
ABSTRACT The interplay between diet, gut microbiota, and host immunity is central to food science. The Lachnospiraceae family ferments dietary fibers to produce short‐chain fatty acids (SCFAs), notably butyrate and propionate, with immunomodulatory potential. This critical review distinguishes established findings from hypotheses.

Beyond Bactericidal: Plasma Surface Engineering to Defeat Food Matrix‐Conditioning Layers

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 6, November 2026.
ABSTRACT The persistence of foodborne pathogens on industrial food contact surfaces continues to challenge global food safety despite advances in sanitation technologies. A central limitation of current antimicrobial strategies lies in their validation under simplified laboratory conditions that overlook the physicochemically driven formation of food ...

One Hundred Years of Sulfido Ligand in the Molybdenum Cofactor: New Perspectives

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 19, 14 October 2026.
The terminal sulfido ligand in mononuclear molybdoenzymes has been appreciated for almost 125 years, with the characterization of Schardinger's enzyme in cow's milk, now known to be xanthine oxidase, that was isolated in 1902 in Vienna, Austria. The ligand is found in molybdoenzymes identified across all kingdoms of life.
