Magnetic anisotropy of a sub-ophiolitic metamorphic sole (Mersin ophiolite, Türkiye)

open access: yesBulletin of the Mineral Research and Exploration, 2023
The Mersin ophiolite of southern Turkey is a well-exposed, Late Cretaceous, Neo-Tethyan suprasubduction zone ophiolite. It is underlain by metamorphic sole rocks inferred to have formed at the top of a down-going plate during subduction.

Andaman Ophiolite: An Overview [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The Andaman Ophiolite remained little explored for long but recent studies yielded important first-order findings that hold promise for further research. Here we summarise these first-order constraints on the structure, geochemistry, and evolution of the Andaman Ophiolite and identify key frontiers for future research.

Large Igneous Province Record Through Time and Implications for Secular Environmental Changes and Geological Time‐Scale Boundaries

open access: yesGeophysical Monograph Series, Page 1-26., 2021

Exploring the links between Large Igneous Provinces and dramatic environmental impact

An emerging consensus suggests that Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs) and Silicic LIPs (SLIPs) are a significant driver of dramatic global environmental and biological changes, including mass extinctions.

Petrography and Geochemistry of ophiolitic basalts from Marivan-Palangan region (Zagros, western Iran) [PDF]

open access: yesپترولوژی, 2019
Basaltic rocks from Marivan-Palangan ophiolite suite (MPO), Zagros suture zone, western Iran, are studied for magmatic evolution, and source rock partial melting processes.

Successive phases of serpentinization and carbonation recorded in the Sivas ophiolite (Turkey), from oceanic crust accretion to post-obduction alteration

open access: yesBSGF - Earth Sciences Bulletin, 2022
The ophiolite of Sivas (Turkey) was studied in order to define the chronology of different alteration events related to a series of serpentinization and carbonation episodes. Six samples were investigated, representative of different types of ophicalcite

The age of the Dinaride Ophiolite Belt: Derived olistostrome melange at the northern slope of Moračka Kapa (Montenegro) [PDF]

open access: yesGeološki Anali Balkanskoga Poluostrva, 2010
This paper presents the first results of a palynological investigation of the Dinaride Ophiolite Belt - derived olistostrome melange at the northern slope of Moračka Kapa (Montenegro).

Extrusion of subducted crust explains the emplacement of far-travelled ophiolites

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
The interplay between continental subduction exhumation dynamics and the obduction of ophiolite sheets remains enigmatic. Here, the authors show that the extrusion of the subducted continental upper crust triggers the necking and breaking of the oceanic ...

Widespread abiotic methane in chromitites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Recurring discoveries of abiotic methane in gas seeps and springs in ophiolites and peridotite massifs worldwide raised the question of where, in which rocks, methane was generated.

PETROLOGY OF THE CRUSTAL PLUTONIC ROCKS OF NAWEOBA BLOCK, ZHOB OPHIOLITE, BALOCHISTAN, PAKISTAN [PDF]

open access: yesEarth Sciences Pakistan, 2021
Zhob Ophiolite complex is composed of three detached blocks named Omzha, Ali Khanzai and Naweoba blocks. The crustal plutonic section of the Naweoba block is mapped and divided into gabbro and granite. Based on petrographical studies, the gabbros fell in
