New steroidal glycosides from the fibrous roots of Ophiopogon japonicus
Journal of Asian Natural Products Research, 2018Two new steroidal glycosides (named fibrophiopogonins A, B), along with one known glycoside, were isolated from the fibrous roots of Ophiopogon japonicus (Liliaceae). Comprehensive spectroscopic analysis, including 2D NMR spectroscopy, and the results of acid hydrolysis allowed the chemical structure of the compounds to be assigned as 26-[(O-β-D ...

Chemical Components of the Fibrous Root of Ophiopogon japonicus
Chemistry of Natural Compounds, 2014The rhizome of Ophiopogon japonicus is a well-known traditional Chinese medicine that has been employed as an expectorant, anti-cough medicine, and tonic agent [1]. Previous chemical analyses of the rhizomes of O. japonicus have led to the isolation of several components including steroidal saponins [2–6], homoisoflavonoids [7, 8], a cis-eudesmane ...

New Neuritogenic Steroidal Saponin fromOphiopogon japonicus(Thunb.) Ker-Gawl
Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, 2011A new steroidal saponin was isolated from Ophiopogon japonicus. This saponin possesses a modification by 2-hydroxy-3-methylvalerylation of the hydroxyl group at C-4' of the sugar, linked to C-1 of the aglycone. It exhibited significant neuritogenic activity for PC12 cells. The structure-activity relationship revealed the aglycone, rather than the sugar

Cardiovascular protective effect of polysaccharide from Ophiopogon japonicus in diabetic rats
International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2016Ophiopogon japonicus (Thunb.) Ker-Gawl is a well known traditional Chinese medicine used to treat cardiovascular and chronic inflammatory diseases for thousands of years. The present study was set up to investigate the protective effects of O. japonicus polysaccharide (OJP1) on cardiovascular injuries in diabetic rats.

Three new neuritogenic steroidal saponins from Ophiopogon japonicus (Thunb.) Ker-Gawl
Steroids, 2013Three new steroidal saponins (1-3) and a known saponin (4) were isolated from Ophiopogon japonicus (Thunb.) Ker-Gawl. Their structures were determined by spectroscopic analyses and chemical derivatization. The isolated compounds (1-4) were potent inducers of neuritogenesis on PC12 cells.

[Analysis of polysaccharides contents in Ophiopogon japonicus by NIR].
Guang pu xue yu guang pu fen xi = Guang pu, 2014In the present paper the polysaccharides in Ophiopogon japonicus was analysed quantitatively by using near infrared spectroscopy. The spectral characteristics of the primary ingredients in ophiopogonis were obtained by applying first derivative, second derivative, smoothing, SNV (standard normal variate), and MSC (multiple scatter correction), and the ...

[Simultaneous determination of three homoisoflavonoids in Ophiopogon japonicus by HPLC].
Zhongguo Zhong yao za zhi = Zhongguo zhongyao zazhi = China journal of Chinese materia medica, 2012Three homoisoflavonoids, 6-aldehydo-3-ophiopogonanone A, methyl ophiopogonanone A and ophiopogonanone A from Ophiopogon japonicus were analyzed simultaneously by HPLC with acetonitrile-water containing 0.5% H3 PO4 (58:42) as the mobile phase, and the detection wavelength was set at 296 nm (0-14 min) and 275 nm (14-22 min).
