The effect of temperature on the growth of the phytopathogenic fungus Ophiostoma novo-ulmi
2022Dutch elm disease (DED), which is caused by the aggressive ascomycete fungus Ophiostoma novo-ulmi, has led to the drying and decay of many elm trees (Ulmus spp.) across Europe, North America, and Central Asia. This phytopathogen is responsible for the second, current DED pandemic, while the less aggressive fungus Ophiostoma ulmi caused the first DED ...

Thirty-six isolates of Ophiostoma ulmi and O. novo-ulmi (EAN and NAN races) were compared using randomly amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers. The separation of three distinct clusters, and the quantitative relationships between them, is in good agreement with the designation of 0. ulmi and O.

SummaryCell cultures of callus tissue cultures obtained from four elm genotypes (Ulmus minor; Ulmus minor×Ulmus pumila; [Ulmus carpinifolia×Ulmus glabra] × [Ulmus wallichiana×Ulmus glabra]; and Ulmus pumila), either susceptible or resistant to Dutch elm disease (DED) were exposed to culture filtrates of Ophiostoma ulmi and Ophiostoma novo‐ulmi.

Differential effect of 'Ca. Phytoplasma ulmi' and Ophiostoma novo-ulmi on Ulmus spp. in Croatia
2017Phytoplasma 'Ca. Phytoplasma ulmi’ is causal agent of elm yellows (EY) and ascomycete Ophiostoma novo-ulmi causes Dutch elm disease (DED). These are serious and widespread elm diseases, although for European elms DED is considered major treat compared to EY.

Virulentnost fitopatogene gljive Ophiostoma novo- ulmi

Rapid changes in genetic structure of epidemic populations of Ophiostoma ulmi
Nature, 1988The Northern Hemisphere is currently experiencing simultaneous epidemics of Dutch elm disease, caused by two new and highly pathogenic forms of Ophiostoma (Ceratocystis) ulmi, termed the Eurasian (EAN) and North American (NAN) races of the aggressive subgroup.

Variability of sporulation of the phytopathogenic fungus Ophiostoma novo-ulmi
