Phylogenetic re-evaluation of the Grosmannia penicillata complex (Ascomycota, Ophiostomatales), with the description of five new species from China and USA

Fungal Biology, 2020
The Grosmannia penicillata complex (Ophiostomatales, Ascomycota) is one of the major species complexes in Leptographium sensu lato. Most of these are wood staining fungi associated with conifer-infesting bark beetles, and the complex encompasses the type species of the genus Grosmannia.

Ophiostoma species (Ascomycetes: Ophiostomatales) associated with bark beetles (Coleoptera: Scolytinae) colonizing Pinus radiata in northern Spain

Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 2007
Bark beetles (Coleoptera: Scolytinae) are known to be associated with fungi, especially species of Ophiostoma sensu lato and Ceratocystis . However, very little is known about these fungi in Spain. In this study, we examined the fungi associated with 13 bark beetle species and one weevil (Coleoptera: Entiminae) infesting Pinus radiata in the Basque ...

The mtDNA rns gene landscape in the Ophiostomatales and other fungal taxa: Twintrons, introns, and intron-encoded proteins

Fungal Genetics and Biology, 2013
Comparative sequence analysis of the mitochondrial small subunit ribosomal RNA (rns) gene among species of Ophiostoma, Grosmannia, Ceratocystiopsis and related taxa provides an overview of the types of introns that have invaded this gene within the ophiostomatoid fungi. The rns gene appears to be a reservoir for a number of group I and group II introns

Sporothrix chilensis sp. nov. (Ascomycota: Ophiostomatales), a soil-borne agent of human sporotrichosis with mild-pathogenic potential to mammals

Fungal Biology, 2016
A combination of phylogeny, evolution, morphologies and ecologies has enabled major advances in understanding the taxonomy of Sporothrix species, including members exhibiting distinct lifestyles such as saprobes, human/animal pathogens, and insect symbionts.

Fungos do género Raffaelea (Ascomycota: Ophiostomatales) associados a Platypus cylindrus (Coleoptera: Platypodidae) em Portugal

2018
In the study of the fungi associated to Platypus cylindrus, several fungi were isolated from the insect and its galleries in cork oak, among which three species of Raffaelea. Morphological and cultural characteristics, sensitivity to cycloheximide and genetic variability had been evaluated in a set of isolates of this genus. On this basis R.
