[Locomotion of Barents Sea ophiuroids].

Zhurnal evoliutsionnoi biokhimii i fiziologii, 1980
Locomotion of 5 species of Ophiuroids from the Barents Sea has been described--Ophiura albida, O. robusta, O. sarsi, Ophiacantha bidentata, Ophiopholis aculeata. Representatives from the genus Ophiura move by means of one or two symmertic pairs of arms which perform rhythmic rowing beats. The feet tube do not participate in their locomotion. Locomotion

Culture in vitro of the excised embryo of an ophiuroid

Nature, 1940
EXCISED embryos of the viviparous ophiuroid Amphipholis squamata have been successfully cultured in vitro by the method described below. It has been developed in the course of a study of the embryology of the species, and involves a modification of the watch-glass technique of Strangeways as described by Honor B. Fell and Robison1.

Regeneration of the ophiuroid Amphiura filiformis

2001
Regeneration of body parts lost following trauma, predation, or as a result of asexual reproduction has received much attention in recent years. Indeed, there are several reports in current volume, which deal with this problem. In terms of the cell biology of regeneration, most effort has been directed at a rather limited number of species and groups ...

Nature, 1952
ON September 10, 1874, H.M.S. Challenger, while dredging at Station 188, at the western end of Torres Strait, obtained from 28 fathoms two specimens of an amphiurid which afterwards became the genotype of the monotypic genus Ctenamphiura, receiving the name Ctenamphiura maxima (Lyman, 1879).
