Cloning by Ophiuroid Echinoderm Larvae
Larvae of the brittle star Ophiopholis aculeata, common to the North Pacific coast of the United States, and an unidentified species of ophiuroid, collected from waters off the eastern coast of Florida, undergo asexual reproduction of the primary larva to produce a secondary larval clone.

New Brittle Stars (Echinodermata, Ophiuroidea) from the Oligocene of the Mainz Basin, Germany
The fossil record of the Ophiuroidea is still patchy, especially in the Cenozoic. Only four species have been described from the entire Oligocene, which is in stark contrast to the present-day diversity counting more than 2000 species.

Water vascular system architecture in an Ordovician ophiuroid [PDF]
Understanding the water vascular system (WVS) in early fossil echinoderms is critical to elucidating the evolution of this system in extant forms. Here we present the first report of the internal morphology of the water vascular system of a stem ophiuroid.

A new Silurian ophiuroid from the west of Ireland [PDF]
Silurian echinoderms from Ireland are poorly known; hitherto, only three nominal species have been described, all crinoids and all from the Telychian (Upper Llandovery, Lower Silurian) Kilbride Formation in County Galway. A new species from this formation, Crepidosoma doylei, is the first recorded Irish Silurian ophiuroid (brittle star).

One specimen of Ophiura ljungmani Lyman, 1878 was collected in an anchialine cave located in Cozumel Island, Quintana Roo. The finding represents the first record of this ophiuroid in an anchialine cave, and also the shallower record of the species in ...

Discovery and fine‐scale mapping of a hadal xenophyophore field: submersible video transects and photogrammetry enable semi‐automated delineation of xenophyophores, revealing their abundance, spatial organisation, structural complexity and contribution to habitat heterogeneity at ~8000 m depth.
