Echinodermata, Ophiomyxidae, Ophioscolex glacialis Müller and Troschel, 1842: first record of the species for the South Atlantic [PDF]

open access: yesCheck List, 2011
Ophioscolex glacialis Müller and Troschel, 1840 (Ophiuroidea: Ophiomyxidae) was registered for first time off the Brazilian coast, from the Campos Basin of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The specimen was sampled during a environmental monitoring.

Possible Population Growth of Astrospartus mediterraneus (Risso, 1826) (Ophiuroidea, Gorgonocephalidae) in the Mediterranean Sea

open access: yesDiversity, 2023
During the last decades, the number of observations of the basket star Astrospartus mediterraneus (Risso, 1826) in the Mediterranean Sea has significantly grown, thanks to SCUBA diver and ROV sightings, citizen reports, as well as particularly large ...

Ophionereis reticulata (Echinodermata, Ophiuroidea) [PDF]

open access: yesIheringia. Série Zoologia, 2010
This study compared the arm regeneration frequencies in two different populations of Ophionereis reticulata (Say, 1825) in São Sebastião, Southeast Brazil and observed arm regeneration between age classes (juvenile and adults) and sexes (male and female). From the 1,170 individuals sampled, 1,089 (92.2%) showed signs of arm regeneration.

Integrative species delimitation in the common ophiuroid Ophiothrix angulata (Echinodermata: Ophiuroidea): insights from COI, ITS2, arm coloration, and geometric morphometrics

open access: yesPeerJ, 2023
Ophiothrix angulata (Say, 1825) is one of the most common and well-known ophiuroids in the Western Atlantic, with a wide geographic and bathymetric range. The taxonomy of this species has been controversial for a century because of its high morphological

A methodological exploration to study 2D arm kinematics in Ophiuroidea (Echinodermata)

open access: yesFrontiers in Zoology, 2023
Brittle stars, unlike most other echinoderms, do not use their small tube feet for locomotion but instead use their flexible arms to produce a rowing or reverse rowing movement.

Order Euryalida (Echinodermata, Ophiuroidea), new species and new records from the South China Sea and the Northwest Pacific seamounts

open access: yesZooKeys, 2022
Abstract Ophiuroids were collected by the manned submersible ‘Shenhaiyongshi’ from the deep-sea seamounts in the South China Sea and Northwest Pacific regions at 602–1920 m depth, during 2018 to 2020.

Ophiuroidea das regiões Antártica e Subantártica: 2. Variação em Gorgonocephalus chilensis ( Philippi) (Echinodermata, Ophiuroidea, Gorgonocephalidae) [PDF]

open access: yesBoletim do Instituto Oceanográfico, 1983
