Interspecific differences in feeding selectivity shape isotopic niche structure of three ophiuroids in the Arctic Ocean [PDF]
peer reviewedUnderstanding the mechanisms that support feeding interactions and species co-occurrence in regions subject to rapid environmental changes is becoming increasingly important to predict future trends in population dynamics.

Echinoderm Fauna of Kosrae, The Federation States of Micronesia [PDF]
Micronesia is an island nation located north of Papua New Guinea in the Pacific Ocean. A survey was executed on Kosrae, which is one of the four main islands of Micronesia, during January 23-30, 2011 and January 8-15, 2012. The echinoderms were collected

Global benthic biogeographical regions and macroecological drivers for ophiuroids [PDF]
Delineating biogeographical regions can provide important insights into the processes shaping large-scale species distribution patterns. Here we aimed to 1) identify global marine benthic biogeographical regions for ophiuroids extending from shallow ...

A new brittle star from the early Carboniferous of Poland and its implications on Paleozoic modern-type ophiuroid systematics [PDF]
The fossil record of Paleozoic ophiuroids includes a number of forms which share striking similarities with modern relatives in terms of skeletal morphology.

Ophiuroids from the Middle Triassic (Muschelkalk) of Sadowa Góra, Jaworzno (southern Poland) [PDF]
Ophiuroids belonging to Aspiduriella sp., Aspiduriella similis (Eck), and Arenorbis sp. are described from the Middle Triassic (Muschelkalk) strata of the Sadowa Góra Quarry (Jaworzno) in southern Poland. This is the only Polish location where three taxa

Ophiuroids, also known as brittle stars, are an important component of modern marine benthos, yet their fossil record is still poorly understood. Here, we describe new finds of ophiuroids from the upper Sinemurian (Lower Jurassic) of Asturias, north-west

A Silurian ophiuroid with soft‐tissue preservation [PDF]
AbstractMost Palaeozoic brittle stars lack the fused arm ossicles (vertebrae) that facilitate the remarkable mode of walking that characterizes living forms. Here we describe a stem ophiuroid from the Herefordshire Lagerstätte (Silurian, Wenlock Series), which is exceptional in preserving the body cavity uncompacted and the long tube feet.

Ophiomusium (Ophiolepididae) and Ophiomisidium (Ophiuridae) are similar, but differ in features such as size of the adult, number of disc dorsal plates, length of the arms, shape of the first ventral arm plates and number of the tentacle.

This study aims on a first comparison of the shallow water (< 550 m) ophiuroid fauna of the Magellan region and the high-Antarctic Weddell Sea. Five species are common to both the Magellan region (22 species) and the Weddell Sea (42 species).
