Comparative study of fibrin glue, suturing and sutureless / glue-free limbal conjunctival autograft for primary pterygium surgery in patients attending a tertiary care hospital in Eastern India

open access: yesUkrainian Journal of Ophthalmology
Purpose: To compare the effectiveness, safety, and cost-effectiveness of three conjunctival autograft-fixing methods: fibrin glue, sutures, and no glue or sutures; to examine patient comfort, complications, recurrence, and postoperative outcomes; to ...

N, S Co‐Doped Carbon Quantum Dots‐Riboflavin Composite Photosensitizers for Enhanced Iontophoresis‐Assisted Corneal Cross‐Linking

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study explores the use of N, S co‐doped carbon quantum dots (NS‐CQDs) as carriers for riboflavin, creating NS‐CQDs‐RF composite photosensitizers. These composites improve riboflavin absorption, enhance ROS generation efficiency, and preserve corneal epithelium integrity.

Post-operative management of trabeculectomy in the first three months

open access: yesCommunity Eye Health Journal, 2012
A successful trabeculectomy is a stable surgical fistula. The one thing required to keep a fistula patent (open) is flow. The principal and most challenging complication is scarring; however, other complications may occur, as outlined in this article.

Decoding IGLL5 Mutation‐Mediated BCR Signaling: A Novel Mechanism of CD8+ T Cell Exhaustion and Ocular MALT Lymphoma Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
OAML harbors recurrent IGLL5 mutations that reinforce CD79A/CD79B‐associated BCR signaling. Mechanistic analysis of the S47G and A54G variants reveals induction of CXCL10/CXCL11, enhanced CD8+ T‐cell recruitment, and exhaustion‐associated dysfunction, supporting an immune‐tolerant niche.

Cis‐ and Trans‐Regulatory Factors Independently Shape Phenotypic Heterogeneity of Retinitis Pigmentosa

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A zebrafish model carrying an identical human RHO S334X allele reveals two independent genetic layers shaping retinitis pigmentosa (RP) severity: a protective 3‐bp cis‐regulatory insertion that attenuates transgene expression, and a dominant trans‐acting modifier that restores a severe phenotype.

The assessment of the stability of the corneal structure after LASIK correction of myopia by different optical zone diameters [PDF]

open access: yesVojnosanitetski Pregled, 2016
Background/Aim. Enlargement of optical zone (OZ) diameter during laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) correction of myopia postoperatively improves the optical outcome, however, it also leads to the increased stroma tissue consumption ...

Bench‐to‐Bedside Translation of Self‐Healing Colloidal Hydrogels as Next Generation Design of Flowable Hemostatic Matrix: From Preclinical Evaluation to Human Clinical Trials

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Self‐healing materials represent a paradigm shift in designing functional biomedical devices for drug delivery, tissue regeneration, and 3D bioprinting. However, their clinical translation remains limited by challenges such as insufficient mechanical strength, potential cytotoxicity from chemical modifications, and complex activation ...

GHRHR Deficiency Enhances Retinal Ganglion Cell Survival and Visual Functions in Experimental Glaucoma by Inhibiting Ferroptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Glaucoma, a major cause of blindness, involves retinal ganglion cell (RGC) degeneration. This study shows growth hormone‐releasing hormone receptor (GHRHR) deficiency preserves RGC survival and restores vision, unlike activation which only aids survival.

How I approach trabeculectomy surgery

open access: yesCommunity Eye Health Journal, 2006
The purpose of this article is to describe an approach to the most commonly performed surgical treatment for open-angle glaucoma, trabeculectomy. It is important to recognise that the concept of trabeculectomy surgery can be difficult for patients to ...
