Micro Gondwana: soil and litter mesofauna in the subalpine and alpine of North‐West Nelson, southern New Zealand

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Zoology, Volume 52, Issue 5, Page 944-966, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Alpine ecosystems are vulnerable to the warming climate, yet alpine soil mesofauna remains the less studied part of NZ biodiversity. Here we present a survey of soil mesofauna communities of three mountain peaks in the Nelson‐Tasman and Marlborough regions of the South Island of New Zealand.

Geological and ecological assessment of the exposure degree of the Zăton-Bulba karst system (Mehedinţi Plateau) to the anthropogenetic hazards: intrinsic vulnerability and biodiveresity study

open access: yesTravaux de l'Institut de Speologie Emile Racovitza, 2010
The Mehedinţi Plateau represents an area highly marked by the intensity of the karst processes and by the diversity of the exokarst and endokarst features.

Beetle Pollination in the Holoparasitic Lophophytum pyramidale (Balanophoraceae): A New Case of Brood‐Pollination Mutualism?

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, Volume 149, Issue 10, Page 1542-1554, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Beetle pollination is considered an ancestral trait in angiosperms, retained in a few specialised families engaging in longstanding interactions with ancient groups of beetles. While beetles represent some of the earliest angiosperm pollinators, there is also increasing evidence that some beetle‐pollinated plants represent a derived condition.
