Modeling social conformity and peer pressure in opinion dynamics: the role of dynamic interaction structures

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics
With the advent of modern media platforms, the dissemination of information has become faster and more far-reaching than ever before. These platforms amplify susceptibility to societal influences, as individuals respond to widely circulating information ...

Cellular Responses to Mechanical Cues Across Scales: From Fundamental Insights to Translational Potential

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines how cellular behavior is regulated by mechanical cues transmitted through soft biomaterials, from single‐cell mechanosensing to tissue‐level adaptation. It highlights why physiological relevance, rather than model complexity alone, is critical for translational mechanobiology and introduces a scoring framework linking material ...

Mass Media and Polarisation Processes in the Bounded Confidence Model of Opinion Dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper presents a social simulation in which we add an additional layer of mass media communication to the social network \'bounded confidence\' model of Deffuant et al (2000).

Gellan Gum Fluid Gel System for Controlled‐Delivery of Cytokine‐Licensed MSC‐EVs to Enhance Corneal Repair in Limbal Stem Cell Deficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Gellan gum fluid gel (FG) enables controlled ocular delivery of mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC)‐derived extracellular vesicles (EV). Its shear‐thinning, solid‐liquid‐solid rheology ensures prolonged ocular retention. Sustained MSC‐EV release (∼18% in 6 hrs) supports effective EV ocular delivery.

Opinion Formation by Informed Agents [PDF]

open access: yes
Opinion formation and innovation diffusion have gained lots of attention in the last decade due to its application in social and political science. Control of the diffusion process usually takes place using the most influential people in the society ...

Achieving accurate opinion consensus in large multi-agent systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Modern communication technologies offer the means to share information within decentralised, large and complex networks of agents. A significant number of examples of peer-to-peer interactions can be found in domains such as sensor networks, social web ...

Water Permeates and Plasticizes Amorphous Carbon Dots: Unraveling the Inner Accessibility of the Nanoparticles by Glass Transition Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The water permeability of amorphous carbon dots (CDs) is demonstrated by investigating their plasticization. Novel polyamide‐based and amorphous nanoparticles are synthesized by controlling their inner packing density. Water plasticization is evidenced by the decrease of the CDs glass transition temperature with increasing the hydration degree.

Opinion Dynamics: the Effect of the Number of Peers Met at Once [PDF]

open access: yes
The opinion dynamics model introduced by Deffuant and Weisbuch as well as the one by Hegselmann and Krause are rather similar. In both models individuals are assumed to have opinions about an issue, they meet and discuss, and they may adapt their ...

Ligand‐Mediated Shape Engineering of SWIR InAs Colloidal Quantum Dots for Photodetector Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The table of contents: A robust ligand‐engineering strategy is introduced for SWIR InAs CQDs synthesized from amino‐arsine precursors. Bulky OA ligands induce controlled shape evolution, allowing access to >1700 nm absorption under mild conditions. Halide‐based inkification enables photodetectors with 19.1% EQE at 1300 nm and detectivity exceeding 1010

Opinion Dynamics and Bounded Confidence Models, Analysis and Simulation [PDF]

open access: yes
When does opinion formation within an interacting group lead to consensus, polarization or fragmentation? The article investigates various models for the dynamics of continuous opinions by analytical methods as well as by computer simulations.
