Dynamical affinity in opinion dynamics modeling [PDF]
We here propose a model to simulate the process of opinion formation, which accounts for the mutual affinity between interacting agents. Opinion and affinity evolve self-consistently, manifesting a highly non trivial interplay. A continuous transition is found between single and multiple opinion states.

Opinion dynamics on tie-decay networks
In social networks, interaction patterns typically change over time. We study opinion dynamics on tie-decay networks in which tie strength increases instantaneously when there is an interaction and decays exponentially between interactions. Specifically,

Opinion dynamics in finance and business: a literature review and research opportunities
Opinion dynamics is an opinion evolution process of a group of agents, where the final opinion distribution tends to three stable states: consensus, polarization, and fragmentation. At present, the opinion dynamics models have been extensively studied in

Opinion Evolution in Divided Community
Our agent-based model of opinion dynamics concerns the current vast divisions in modern societies. It examines the process of social polarization, understood here as the partition of a community into two opposing groups with contradictory opinions.

On Symmetric Continuum Opinion Dynamics [PDF]
This paper investigates the asymptotic behavior of some common opinion dynamic models in a continuum of agents. We show that as long as the interactions among the agents are symmetric, the distribution of the agents' opinion converges. We also investigate whether convergence occurs in a stronger sense than merely in distribution, namely, whether the ...

The Sound of Silence: Minorities, Abstention and Democracy
Despite the existence of an extensive literature, no definitive conclusion seems to emerge on the extent to which minorities are guaranteed by democratic rules in political systems.

OPINION DYNAMICS AND COMMUNICATION NETWORKS [PDF]
This paper examines the interplay of opinion exchange dynamics and communication network formation. An opinion formation procedure is introduced which is based on an abstract representation of opinions as k-dimensional bit-strings. Individuals interact if the difference in the opinion strings is below a defined similarity threshold dI. Depending on dI,

Benchmarking Cost-Effective Opinion Injection Strategies in Complex Networks
Inferring the diffusion mechanisms in complex networks is of outstanding interest since it enables better prediction and control over information dissemination, rumors, innovation, and even infectious outbreaks.

OPINION DYNAMICS AND COLLECTIVE DECISIONS [PDF]
We expect that democracy enables us to utilize collective intelligence such that our collective decisions build and enhance social welfare, and such that we accept their distributive and normative consequences. Collective decisions are produced by voting procedures which aggregate individual preferences and judgments.
