Serum antibody responses in opisthorchiasis

International Journal for Parasitology, 1995
We evaluated an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay using crude parasite homogenates as a diagnostic test for Opisthorchis viverrini infection in humans. Serum antibody (Ab) responses to O. viverrini adult worm homogenate (AWH) and metacercaria homogenate (MH) were studied in 83 infected residents of an opisthorchiasis-endemic area in Thailand.

Ultrasonographic features of hepatobiliary pathology in opisthorchiasis and opisthorchiasis-associated cholangiocarcinoma

Parasitology International, 2017
Infection with the liver fluke, Opisthorchis viverrini (Ov), is an important public health problem in northeast Thailand where people have a habit of eating raw or inadequately cooked fish. Pathobiology of opisthorchiasis: an update

Acta Tropica, 2003
Opisthorchis viverrini infection is associated with several hepatobiliary diseases including cholangitis, obstructive jaundice, hepatomegaly, cholecystitis and cholelithiasis. Pathological consequences of O. viverrini infection occur mainly in the liver, extrahepatic bile ducts, gall bladder and kidney.

Clonorchiasis and Opisthorchiasis

2014
Clonorchiasis and opisthorchiasis are helminthic diseases caused by the liver flukes Clonorchis sinensis, Opisthorchis felineus, and Opisthorchis viverrini, respectively. Humans acquire these trematode infections by consuming raw or partially cooked freshwater fish infected with the larval stage metacercariae.

Biliary calculus associated with opisthorchiasis

The American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 1973
The case of a 20-year-old Laotian student with cholangitis, Gram-negative speticemia, and a large common duct stone associated with heavy infection by Opisthorchis viverrini is presented. Opisthorchis infection has been previously related to chronic cholangitis and an increased risk of hepatic malignancy.
