We report the synthesis bis(arylethynyl)naphtho‐ and anthraquinones via Rh(I)‐catalyzed [2 + 2 + 2] cycloaddition reactions. The substrate scope of both quinones and linked bis‐diynes was explored. Microwave irradiation remarkably enhanced yields.

Continuous variable quantum key distribution with two-mode squeezed states
Quantum key distribution (QKD) enables two remote parties to grow a shared key which they can use for unconditionally secure communication [1]. The applicable distance of a QKD protocol depends on the loss and the excess noise of the connecting quantum ...

Synchronously-pumped OPO coherent Ising machine: benchmarking and prospects [PDF]
The coherent Ising machine (CIM) is a network of optical parametric oscillators (OPOs) that solves for the ground state of Ising problems through OPO bifurcation dynamics.

Experimental determination of the degree of quantum polarisation of continuous variable states [PDF]
We demonstrate excitation-manifold resolved polarisation characterisation of continuous-variable (CV) quantum states. In contrast to traditional characterisation of polarisation that is based on the Stokes parameters, we experimentally determine the ...

Asymptotic independence in more than two dimensions and its implications on risk management
Abstract In extreme value theory, the presence of asymptotic independence signifies that joint extreme events across multiple variables are unlikely. Although well understood in a bivariate context, the concept remains relatively unexplored when addressing the nuances of simultaneous occurrence of extremes in higher dimensions.

Cascaded half-harmonic generation of femtosecond frequency combs in mid-IR [PDF]
For the growing demand of frequency combs in mid-infrared (mid-IR), known as the "molecular fingerprint" region of the spectrum [1], down conversion of near-IR frequency combs through half- harmonic generation offers numerous benefits including high ...

Field patterns in periodically modulated optical parametric amplifiers and oscillators
Spatially localized and periodic field patterns in periodically modulated optical parametric amplifiers and oscillators are studied. In the degenerate case (equal signal and idler beams) we elaborate the systematic method of construction of the ...

Experimental study of the spatial distribution of quantum correlations in a confocal Optical Parametric Oscillator [PDF]
We study experimentally the spatial distribution of quantum noise in the twin beams produced by a type II Optical Parametric Oscillator operating in a confocal cavity above threshold.
