Drivers of Farmers' Contract Compliance Behavior: Evidence From a Case Study of Dangote Tomato Processing Plant in Northern Nigeria

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Contract farming is a viable strategy agribusinesses rely on to strengthen coordination across actors in the value chain. However, low contract compliance remains a significant setback to agribusinesses' contract performance in low‐ and middle‐income country context.

Creating Shared Value as an Antecedent of Value Co‐Creation: B2B Relationships in the Agri‐Food Sector

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study analyzes the effects of value co‐creation and creation of shared value in agricultural input marketing. This study used a sample of 178 agricultural companies in Costa Rica. The data were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS‐SEM) with SMART PLS software. Our findings reveal the significant influence

Mechanisms of Mitochondrial Toxicity and Cytotoxicity Caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa Pyocyanin in Human Nasal Epithelial Cells

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic pathogen in cystic fibrosis‐related chronic rhinosinusitis (CF‐CRS) that produces phenazine metabolites pyocyanin and 1‐hydroxyphenazine (1‐HP), which may have detrimental effects on mitochondria, reactive oxygen species (ROS), Ca2+ signaling, and apoptosis.

Grouping-maintenance of multi-components production system under ecological background

open access: yesJournal of Industrial Engineering and Management
Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to propose an opportunistic group maintenance model for a multi-component series system considering reducing CO2 emission and increasing system efficiency, which establishes a maintenance policy to minimize the cost ...

Interspecies Biofilm Dynamics Among Staphylococci: Inflammatory Contributions to Chronic Rhinosinusitis

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Staphylococcus species are frequently isolated from the sinonasal niche of chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) patients. While Staphylococcus aureus is often associated with recalcitrant CRS, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Staphylococcus lugdunensis are largely deemed commensal.

Condition-based maintenance at both scheduled and unscheduled opportunities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Motivated by original equipment manufacturer (OEM) service and maintenance practices we consider a single component subject to replacements at failure instances and two types of preventive maintenance opportunities: scheduled, which occur due to periodic

Lysyl Oxidase Reduces Neutrophil Extravasation in Response to P. aeruginosa in an Infection‐on‐a‐Chip Model

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Lysyl oxidase crosslinking of type I collagen decreases neutrophil extravasation through an endothelium during the initial response to P. aeruginosa. This decrease in extravasation is likely due to the increase in VE‐cadherin expression between endothelial cells seeded on LOX‐crosslinked collagen hydrogels.

Poster Abstract: Opportunistic RPL [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Sensor nodes constituting Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are often battery- operated and have limited resources. To save energy, nodes sleep most of the time, and wake up periodically to handle communication.

An effective opportunistic maintenance policy for a global service [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Services Sciences, 2010
The aim of the present paper is to develop a model for an effective maintenance policy with refer to a global service contract between a services provider company and a company for the waste management. The contract requires, with fixed performance levels of the service, the supplying of a mandatory set of maintenance services on a set of waste ...
