Congenital Anomalies of the Optic Disc
Survey of Ophthalmology, 1982Although anomalies affecting the optic nerve head are usually clinically innocuous, they can sometimes cause significant symptoms and lead to visual loss. It is important to be able to recognize even the relatively benign lesions in order to differentiate them from other more threatening lesions or disease processes which they may clinically resemble ...

Cavitary Anomalies of the Optic Disc: Neurologic Significance
Current Neurology and Neuroscience Reports, 2008Cavitary congenital optic disc anomalies include optic disc coloboma, morning glory disc anomaly, optic pit, and the papillorenal syndrome. Peripapillary staphyloma is occasionally included in this group but it does not represent an anomaly of the optic disc itself and is not discussed herein.

Optic Disc Contractility in Morning Glory Disc Anomaly
Journal of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus, 2011Morning glory disc anomaly is a sporadic congenital abnormality of the optic disc that is often unilateral. These eyes possess heterotropic smooth muscle and can undergo spontaneous contraction with transient vision loss. The authors report an unusual case of contractility of a morning glory disc anomaly induced by ocular massage.

Congenital Anomalies of the Optic Disc
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1983Anyone examining the ocular fundus will appreciate this text. It is easily and profitably read from beginning to end and serves as a valuable reference source. There are seven chapters that cover the following topics: anatomy, embryology, vascular anomalies, excavations and colobomas, size abnormalities, tumors, and other anomalies. The prose is clear,

The Spectrum of Cavitary Optic Disc Anomalies in a Family
Ophthalmology, 1989The current classification of cavitary optic disc anomalies including the morphologically related entities--optic nerve pit, morning glory disc anomaly, coloboma of the optic nerve, and retinochoroidal coloboma involving the optic nerve--is inexact and confusing.

Congenital anomalies of the optic disc
Current Opinion in Ophthalmology, 2017Congenital anomalies of the optic nerve are rare but significant causes of visual dysfunction in children and adults. Accurate diagnosis is dependent on a thorough funduscopic examination, but can be enhanced by imaging information garnered from optical coherence tomography (OCT).

This chapter covers changes related to the optic disc and abnormalities in various ocular conditions. This chapter divided into the following sections. (1) The optic pit and its secondary retinoschisis. OCT in optic pit maculopathy demonstrates a combination of outer retinal layer detachment and retinoschisis in most cases.
