A case of unilateral presentation of peters' anomaly with fundus involvement

open access: yesTNOA Journal of Ophthalmic Science and Research, 2021
Peters' anomaly is a rare congenital malformation of anterior segment dysgenesis, in which abnormal cleavage of anterior chamber occurs. A 22-month-old male was brought by his parents with a history of whitish discoloration in the right eye since birth ...

Circularly Polarized Electroluminescence and Spin‐Polarized Carrier Transport in Chiral‐Doped Polymer Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Chiral dopants induce supramolecular chirality in an achiral polymer (PFO), generating spin‐polarized carriers via the chiral‐induced spin selectivity (CISS) and suggesting a possible contribution of Spin‐polarized carrier transport to circularly polarized electroluminescence (CPEL).

Lone‐Pair‐Induced Lattice Distortion in Lead‐Free Hybrid Perovskites for High‐Performance Nanogenerators

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A lead‐free tin‐based hybrid perovskite is designed in which stereochemically active lone‐pair electrons on tin distort the crystal lattice and break its symmetry. Blended into a flexible polymer, the material converts pressure into electricity at milliwatt‐scale power density and continues working far below freezing, powering a commercial wristwatch ...

Superior segmental optic hypoplasia as a differential diagnosis of glaucoma

open access: yesTaiwan Journal of Ophthalmology, 2019
Superior segmental optic hypoplasia (SSOH) is a congenital anomaly affecting the optic nerve head and retina. Although the conventional characterization of SSOH emphasizes the relatively superior entrance of the central retinal artery, the pallor of the ...

Multimodal Imaging of Large Optic Disc Coloboma: A Report of Three Cases

open access: yesCase Reports in Ophthalmology, 2020
Optic disc coloboma (ODC) is a rare congenital anomaly of the optic nerve. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) helps to monitor the complications when there is associated retinoschisis, retinal detachment, or peripapillary neovascularization, while being ...

Molecularly Dissipative Liquid Crystal Elastomer Foams for Impact and Vibration Attenuation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid crystal elastomer foams integrate cellular deformation with mesogen reorientation to create a dual‐scale energy dissipation mechanism. Progressive pore collapse absorbs mechanical loads, while stress‐induced mesogen reorientation provides additional damping, resulting in reduced impact transmission and broadband suppression of vibrational ...

Magneto‐Ionic Devices With Polymer‐Based Electrolytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Polymer electrolytes are introduced for magneto‐ionic devices based on hydroxide and hydrogen ions. The magneto‐ionic effect results in a pronounced voltage‐controlled variation of coercivity in both devices. The switching speed is in the range of 100 ms.

Unilateral morning glory disc anomaly in a patient with prenatal Zika virus exposure

open access: yesInternational Journal of Retina and Vitreous, 2020
Background To report a case of morning glory disc anomaly (MGDA) in a pediatric patient with prenatal Zika virus (ZIKV) exposure. Case presentation A 3-year-old male with prenatal exposure to ZIKV, confirmed by real-time polymerase chain reaction testing

The Effect of Hydrophilic Headgroup Chemistry on Peptoid‐Directed Mineralization of CaCO3

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Amphiphilic peptoids alter the pathway and outcome of calcium carbonate crystallization, which progresses through amorphous calcium carbonate (ACC) to vaterite to calcite rhombs in the absence of peptoids. In contrast, amine‐terminated peptoids produce vaterite disks and carboxyl‐terminated peptoids produce calcite mesocrystals.
