Simultaneous exoplanet detection and instrument aberration retrieval in multispectral coronagraphic imaging

open access: yes, 2013
High-contrast imaging for the detection and characterization of exoplanets relies on the instrument's capability to block out the light of the host star.

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by

High-resolution imaging of zeolite with aberration-corrected transmission electron microscopy

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2013
We demonstrated high-resolution imaging of atomic columns in zeolite frameworks with spherical aberration-corrected transmission electron microscopy (AC-HRTEM). An MFI-type zeolite was observed by AC-HRTEM with optimized optical setup.

Miniature optical planar camera based on a wide-angle metasurface doublet corrected for monochromatic aberrations

open access: yes, 2016
Optical metasurfaces are two-dimensional arrays of nano-scatterers that modify optical wavefronts at subwavelength spatial resolution. They are poised to revolutionize optics by enabling complex low-cost systems where multiple metasurfaces are ...

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

exCTF simulator: Simulation tool for phase contrast transfer function for aberration-corrected transmission electron microscopy

open access: yesJournal of Analytical Science and Technology, 2020
Background The contrast transfer function (CTF) is an important principle in the field of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) imaging. It provides information on how the electron wave that interacted with a sample (in frequency domain) in an objective

Extremely fast focal-plane wavefront sensing for extreme adaptive optics

open access: yes, 2012
We present a promising approach to the extremely fast sensing and correction of small wavefront errors in adaptive optics systems. As our algorithm's computational complexity is roughly proportional to the number of actuators, it is particularly suitable
