Reconfigurable chaos in electro-optomechanical system with negative Duffing resonators
Generating various laser sources is important in the communication systems. We propose an approach that uses a mechanical resonator coupled with the optical fibre system to produce periodic and chaotic optical signals. The resonator is structured in such

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Topography and mechanical properties of single molecules of type I collagen using atomic force microscopy [PDF]
Although the mechanical behavior of tendon and bone has been studied for decades, there is still relatively little understanding of the molecular basis for their specific properties.

Mechanical, optical and thermoelectric properties of Janus BiTeCl monolayer
We report mechanical, optical and thermoelectric properties of recently fabricated Janus BiTeCl monolayer using density functional and semi-classical Boltzmann transport theory. Janus BiTeCl monolayer exhibits a direct bandgap, high carrier mobility (~10$^3$ cm$^2$V$^{-1}$s$^{-1}$) and high optical absorption in the UV-visible region.

The process of internalization of the Shiga toxin A subunit via formation of a complex with the Shiga toxin B subunit, which specifically binds to the Gb3 receptor. The peptide is designed to act as a carrier of drugs into cancer cells. Here, we explored the potential of peptides derived from the catalytic A subunit of Shiga toxin (STxA) to be drug ...

Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...

Synergistic perspectives—How single‐molecule biophysics complement biochemical understanding
In this review, we discuss how ensemble biochemistry and single‐molecule approaches are complementary, outline commonly used single‐molecule techniques, and illustrate their relevance through two representative case studies: chromatin organization by SMC complexes and pathway choice during DNA double‐strand break repair.

Interactions, structure and properties in poly(lactic acid)/thermoplastic polymer blends [PDF]
Blends were prepared from poly(lactic acid) (PLA) and three thermoplastics, polystyrene (PS), polycarbonate (PC) and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA). Rheological and mechanical properties, structure and component interactions were determined by various ...
