Characterization of the Burst Aggregation Process in Optical Burst Switching [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We describe an analytic approach for the calculation of the departure process from a burst ggregation algorithm that uses both a timer and maximum/minimum burst size. The arrival process of packets is assumed to be Poisson or bursty modelled by an Interrupted Poisson Process (IPP).

Recapitulating Endochondral Ossification for Bone Repair: From Development to Engineering Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the developmental basis of endochondral ossification (ECO) and its applications in bone tissue engineering (BTE). It first outlines the key biological processes and signaling pathways underlying ECO, then discusses biomaterial‐based engineering strategies derived from these principles, and finally highlights future directions for

Modeling of a controlled retransmission scheme for loss recovery in optical burst switching networks

open access: yesETRI Journal, 2022
Retransmission in optical burst switching networks is a solution to recover data loss by retransmitting the dropped burst. The ingress node temporarily stores a copy of the complete burst and sends it each time it receives a retransmission request from ...

Plasmonic Enhancement of Fluorescence and Protein Dynamics in Living Mammalian Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates plasmonic enhancement of the function of fluorescent voltage sensing proteins (genetically encoded voltage indicators, (GEVIs), QuasAr6) in live mammalian cells. Coupling to plasmonic nanoparticles does not just increase fluorescence, but influences the protein photocycle, creating a hybrid sensor with its response speed to ...

Dynamic Wavelength Scheduling by Multiobjectives in OBS Networks

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics, 2022
The burst dropping ratio is witnessed in the contemporary literature as a considerable constraint of optical burst switching (OBS) networks that attained many researchers’ efforts in the recent past. Among the multiple practices endeavoring to reduce the

Beyond Earth: Resilience of Quasi‐2D Perovskite Solar Cells in Space

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
In the article (DOI: 10.1002/adma.202520433), Christoph Putz and co‐workers demonstrate rigid quasi‐2D perovskite solar cells operating in low Earth orbit, delivering stable power for more than 100 days under real‐space conditions. In‐orbit performance is correlated with extensive ground‐based thermal and proton‐irradiation studies on rigid and ...

CONTENTION RESOLUTION IN OPTICAL BURST SWITCHES USING FIBER DELAY LINE BUFFERS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Engineering Science and Technology, 2017
Optical burst switching (OBS) is a circuit switching paradigm that provides very high throughput with reasonable delay. In OBS, the data burst size is not uniform and can be of any length.
