400  m rolling-shutter-based optical camera communications link.

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2020
In this Letter, we develop a novel technique, to the best of our knowledge, to increase the link span ($ {L_s} $Ls) of a rolling shutter (RS)-based optical camera communications (OCC) system by reducing the spatial bandwidth of the camera in the out-of ...

A Tensor-Based Optical Camera Communication (OCC) System With Joint Data Detection and Video Restoration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
<div>The Optical Camera Communication (OCC) technology allows Visible Light Communications (VLC), one of the key technologies for the Sixth Generation (6G) of mobile communications, to be used with image sensors on the receiver side. For Screen-to-Camera (S2C) applications, in which Light Emitting Diode (LED) screens are used to send information ...

Optical camera communication (OCC) using a laser-diode coupled optical-diffusing fiber (ODF) and rolling shutter image sensor

open access: yesOptics Express, 2022
We demonstrate an optical-camera-communication (OCC) system utilizing a laser-diode (LD) coupled optical-diffusing-fiber (ODF) transmitter (Tx) and rolling-shutter based image sensor receiver (Rx). The ODF is a glass optical fiber produced for decorative lighting or embedded into small areas where bulky optical sources cannot fit. Besides, decoding the

Digital forensics challenges and readiness for 6G Internet of Things (IoT) networks

open access: yesWIREs Forensic Science, Volume 5, Issue 6, November/December 2023., 2023
6G Internet of Things networks. Abstract The development of sixth‐generation (6G) wireless communication technology is expected to provide super high‐speed data transmission, and advanced network performance than the current fifth‐generation (5G) and be fully functional by the 2030s.

Multispectral Optical camera communication links based on spectral signature multiplexing

open access: yesIET Optoelectronics, Volume 17, Issue 4, Page 91-100, August 2023., 2023
This paper focuses on using the multispectral cameras' features to take advantage of the light‐emitting diode (LED) behaviour in a novel communication scheme based on spectral signature multiplexing. The thermally induced LED variations can be detected by the multispectral camera to obtain new communication channels from the same device.

A unilateral 3D indoor positioning system employing optical camera communications

open access: yesIET Optoelectronics, Volume 17, Issue 4, Page 110-119, August 2023., 2023
This paper investigates the use of a visible light positioning system in an indoor environment to provide a three dimensional (3D) high‐accuracy solution. The proposed system can retrieve the 3D coordinate of the Rx using a combination of the angle of arrival and received signal strength (RSS).

An Optical Camera Communication Using Novel Hybrid Frequency Shift and Pulse Width Modulation Technique for Li-Fi

open access: yesComputation, 2022
With an increase in network-connected devices, the existing Radio Frequency (RF) spectrum is getting highly saturated. Non-RF-based communication systems have recently garnered attention as they can be considered an alternative to RF-based systems for ...

Frame recovery using multiple images in rolling shutter based systems

open access: yesIET Optoelectronics, Volume 17, Issue 4, Page 162-174, August 2023., 2023
An algorithm for decoding identifiers in rolling shutter based communication systems is proposed by the authors, based on reconstructing the original bitstream from multiple frames. The algorithm was validated by simulation for 6‐bit, 8‐bit and 10‐bit codewords, showing an improvement in the recovery probability compared to a baseline algorithm.

I/Q Demodulator Based Optical Camera Communications

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2022
Visible light communications achieve wireless communications using light sources such as lighting fixtures and electric signboards. The light sources need to blink at high speed to avoid flickering. However, the blinking frequency is much higher than the
