Optical Code Division Multiple Access
2014A comprehensive guide to optical fiber communications, from the basic principles to the latest developments in OCDMA for Next-Generation Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) systems. Part I starts off with the fundamentals of light propagation in optical fibers, including multiple access protocols, and their enabling techniques.

Call for Papers: Optical Code Division Multiple Access
Journal of Optical Networking, 2006Call for Papers: Optical Code Division Multiple Access Guest Editors Alan Willner, University of Southern California Janet Jackel, Telcordia Submission Deadline: 1 November 2006 Optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) is a technique in which each network user is assigned a unique code rather than a specific wavelength or time slot.

Emerging optical code-division multiple access communication systems
IEEE Network, 1989All-optical systems, which perform signal processing functions optically so that the signal conversion from optical to electrical is done only when desired, are considered. Three such schemes are discussed, namely, fiber-optic code-division multiple-access (CDMA) systems, neuromorphic CDMA systems, and ultrashort-light-pulse CDMA systems.

Incoherent optical code division multiple access systems
Proceedings of ISSSTA'95 International Symposium on Spread Spectrum Techniques and Applications, 2002Classical code division multiple access (CDMA) principles can be translated to the optical domain, resulting in all-optical derivatives of electronic systems. There are a number of ways of realising an all-optical CDMA system, classified as incoherent, coherent and approaches based on encoding in the frequency spectrum.

OBS networks using optical code division multiple access techniques
2004 IEEE International Conference on Communications (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37577), 2004The use of optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) techniques for contention resolution in optical burst switching (OBS) is proposed. Further a service differentiation scheme is proposed for QoS support. This novel approach achieves wider range of differentiated services than the existing offset-time-based scheme, by assigning prioritized ...

Code Division Multiple Access in Fiber Optic Networks
IETE Journal of Education, 1997This paper provides a tutorial in which the basic principle of optical code division multiple access (CDMA), its inherent advantages and disadvantages are discussed. We review some of the methods for constructing appropriate codes, and the upper hounds on their maximum size.

A new coded optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) systems
Proceedings of the Twentieth National Radio Science Conference (NRSC'2003) (IEEE Cat. No.03EX665), 2003The performance of optical code division multiple access with pulse position modulation system (OCDMA-PPM) considering the effects of using recent kinds of coding schemes is analyzed and discussed. It is seen that coding offers considerable coding gain, but with reasonable encoding/decoding complexity and is very effective in increasing the numbers of ...

2/sup n/ prime-sequence codes and coding architecture for optical code-division multiple-access
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1996Recent study shows that optical code-division multiple-access (CDMA) networks cannot be evaluated or designed by only considering the performance (i.e., correlation properties) of the optical pseudo-orthogonal codes selected. The structures of optical encoders and decoders are another important factors to consider and are needed to coordinate with the ...
